Jennings is a reasonable win, but a gatekeeper at best. The rest don't impress me much... Dubois is a very green contender, he has promise but he's done virtually nothing yet. Takam was only ever a gatekeeper and by the time Joyce fought him he was completely shot. Stiverne at one point was decent... The version Joe beat was so declined it wouldn't even be fair to call it his ghost anymore. Sorry, not impressed. (Note this was after Wilder-Stiverne 2, and not even Wilders fanboys consider that version of Stiverne as remotely decent - that should tell you something). Now don't get me wrong, I think Joyce is probably better than his record shows and for 13 professional fights there aren't many that have had an equal resume at that stage. I think Parker's declined since AJ, he's tried to change and it hasn't really worked out... However, that win over Chisora, even if it's a marginal one, is still better than anything Joyce has done as a pro. Make no mistake, Parker would be a huge step up for Joyce.
He shouldn't retire but he may have to deal with resigning himself to become a gatekeeper rather than a top contender. If it makes him good money being a gatekeeper he should just go down that route. I think he actually can beat Joyce but he needs to fight like he did against Ruiz Jr and add some concussive shots to his arsenal and he can win. Parker seems to want to coast more and doesn't want to go into a tear up like he used to.
He should continue fighting, it's his income. I don't understand why people often ask fighters to retire when they have lost. What else are they going to do? For many it's their only career. And it's tough going back working 9-5 in some shitty job when you've made lots of money fighting, being admired by people and if you enjoy fighting. Look at Shannon Briggs who ended up in some marketing company in an office after the Klitschko fight. No wonder he wanted to fight so badly again and get a payday against Wlad.
Takam is the best pponent Joyce has beaten but I had him losing Takam by a point going into the sixth when the very premature stoppage happend. Dubois I think will go on and prove to be a better fighter than Takam. Jennings is OK but his career is built on a very controversial win over perez. Apart from that his best wins were Spzilka and Rudenko. Jennings did give Joyce a tough and close fight though. Stiverne was a paper champion that beat a poor opponent for a vacant title. Stiverne was never any good.
I know that obviously, no one he's beaten has been top 10 like Parker, he's only ever beaten top 15-20 guys at best but that's better than most in this division, especially with the amount of fights he's had to date.
Because they never had fought nor in ams nor pros. Also in most cases did not had proper street fight vs someone who really does have experience and knows what he is doing. The same Chisora vs Helenius. Fight was for Euro Title. One jugde had it 115-113 for Chisora. Two judges had it 115-113 for Helenius as winner. I had scored this fight for Chisora with 115-113. Does this mean that Chisora had on paper lost this fight, he should had retire from fighting? Or Helenius? Chisora vs Whyte I. Official cards were 115-114, 114-115, 113-115. Somoene should had retired after this fight? I had scored this for Chisora. Chisora vs Whyte II. They had fought 10 full rounds and 2 judges had Chisora , 1 judge Whyte ahead in their score cards. Before this stoppage. Who should had retired after this fight? If Parker should retire cos he did not looked impressive vs Chisora, then Whyte and Helenius too should had retired long ago. Usyk btw too, Chisora had won 3 rounds in row with 0 doubts here, then one round even and then he was enough gased and 8 rounds in row took Usyk. Did Usyk looked impressive vs Chisora? No. So all these: Whyte and Helenius, now also Usyk too should retire? Not only Parker.
Was it really that close? I forgot about the fight but I have in mind that it was a real bad robbery, like Chisora won almost every round.
He'll probably be happy taking pay cheques as a gatekeeper as he knows his level. He's been a world champ and probably has lost some of the fire he had when he was matched against Joshua and Whyte.
Should you quit a profession you've devoted your life to while you can still make a good living at it, even if you won't be a rockstar?
I don't get the Joyce hype at all. He is slow and useless. Not that parkers fantastic but he beats Joyce in my opinion and relatively easily.
When was the last time Parker beat anyone decent relatively easily? Joyce is far better than Fa, Leapai, Winters or Flores. Parker struggled with Chisora, lost to Whyte and Joshua. His last convincing win over a name opponent was probably Hughie Fury nearly 4 years ago. Parker beating him isn't out of the question but beating him relatively easily? Nah I don't see that at all, whenever Parker fights anyone good he's taken to his limit or beyond. Maybe Joyce is over hyped but he beat Takam in more convincing style than Chisora did and Chisora gave Parker a very close fight. Joyce is the best fighter Parker will have fought since Whyte, I can't see how Parker wins easily against this level of opponent as he's always struggled at this level.
What from this? Chisora started to earn good bucks when he fought vs 40 y.o uncle Vitali. He had lost. Was this bad for his career? Nope, next fight he get was vs Haye and for very good paycheck. He lost. Was this end for his career? Absolutely no, he after this had good number with well paid fights. Last Chisora's fights were vs Usyk ( decent 7 digits paycheck in GBP ) and vs Parker. Good money. It depends what kind of fights you will get. Chisora never had World Title unlike Usyk who had 5 belts at CW. Chisora still had earned more with boxing than Usyk.
