Frazier is obviously the heavy favorite here and SHOULD win. Determining the winner isn’t the purpose of the thread, but rather to talk about weather this is a good fight and I think it would be.

both were in their primes at these respective periods ( 1970 & 1980. ) both were comparably sized and in trim muscular shape. Both liked to brawl in close. Both could punch. Both could go 15 rounds. Both showed incredible heart in the heat of battle. Another thing is that neither were terribly fast starters but warmed up as fights went on. What do you think ?

Joe by close decision. Mike could potentially give Joe a real scare, but I give Mike next to no chance of victory.

Mike would have done good early on, perhaps even floored Joe. But by the mid-rounds...no, Mike couldn't have lasted against those shots, nor the consistently applied pressure. Frazier in 8 at the outside.

I think Weaver is a little underrated, but let's be honest he was a slow starter and he's got too many losses for me to pick over a consistent operator like Frazier. He's got a chance, but not a big one.

Smoking Joe Frazier stops Mike Weaver late. John Tate was outpointing him until that fateful left hook by Weaver put Tate to sleep in round 15. Joe would wear down Mike with left hooks to the body, and forcing a fast pace. Frazier by TKO 10.

Weaver is not absorbing this guy's left hook. he will eat that brutal double left hook Joe threw and once he goes upstairs, it'd be all over quick. 1 or 2 round bout. Nobody ever had a hard time landing their punches on Mike and either would Frazier.

Both are pretty slow starters and tho Joe's forward movement would cause Weaver to push a bit harder i can't see an early stoppage. Weaver has excellent power and he could well catch Joe as the bout advances but Joe's not going to be taken out by one punch and Weaver is no Foreman. I can see Joe Smokin' Weaver down somewhere around 8-12 possibly after being hurt a couple of times.

I think Joe's pace is just too much for Mike. Joe by TKO or KO around 7-9

Joe takes out Mike in 4 rounds after absorbing a tremendous hook in the second round.

Joe Frazier climbs off the canvas in round 2 courtesy of a Mike Weaver lefthook to eventually impose his will on Mr. Weaver.

    Joe Frazier TKO 5th.
