Yes, you beat me to it but he was painfully slow. It amazes me when he was able to time guys with those slow motion punches. Big George even packed serious power in those shots and mixed up timing shots with hard punches to the bead and body. At first it was bizarre to watch but he was effective. When he won the strap from Moore, I was shocked. Not that Moore was good, I just didn’t expect George to do that kind of damage with those slow punches.
Tex Cobb was seemingly slow with his arm punches, but still somehow tagged speedster Michael Dokes in their first fight regularly and hard. Caveman Lee comes to mind also with this thread, but it might be less his punches being slow than it was his complete coming to a standstill in between bombs like he required a receipt. Strange style to watch.
Yeah, I've actually watched some his old K-1 matches, and he used to be far more nimble. The younger version would have been much more interesting at HW. I think many are unfair to Valuev, he was the worst HW out there, probably not even the worst belt holder consider guys like Stiverne, and Martin would go on to win the title.... He was basic, but fundemtanlly sound, which coupled with huge frame made him very hard to deal with.
