Your right. Duran's ego wouldn't allow it.

I think it was Tommy's skull like face with bulging eyes, like the cucuy or bogeyman.

I remember reading in "The Four Kings" that Emanuel Steward always noticed Duran's shook look whenever Hearns came around.

For posters claiming this was impossible, yeah it could be. Steward seemed to embellish from time to time.

***Maybe study some pre-fight footage of Duran's facial expressions and/or body language.

Hagler took him out early for a reason though.

They can but they won’t ever admit it though.

Probably the best stare-downs of all time. Have you seen any just as good or better?

Well he is arguably the most naturally gifted boxer of all time. Now if only he was dedicated to training his craft like Mayweather was.

They can but Steward has told more than a few tall tales. Duran grew up seeing kids getting killed, scared of one man in the ring? He'd fight the devil himself.

I believe the Duran of Montreal that fought Leonard was at his peak phyically for any fight Duran had north of 135 lbs.
That Duran who was quick, fast, and strong, stood a bonafide chance of stopping Hearns, but that Duran that actually fought Hearns who was near 200 lbs weeks before the fight was a bloated shell of himself.
A fighter of Duran's size and characteristics has to be a bonafide fighter of the weight class and be in supreme shape to stand a chance against a fighter with of the freak physical characteristics of one Tommy Hearns.

Imo the Duran of Montreal has much the better chance to beat a skinny frail bodied Tommy Hearns than any version of Floyd Mayweather as a welterweight.
If you're Duran, you can get inside Hearns reach and punish his body, but no shoulder roll is going to stop Hearns from slinging that jab and piling up points on Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather could'nt contort his body enough to get away from Hearns long reach.

It's funny people mention Benitez and that stare-down with Hearns. Whenever I saw that, I never got the feeling Benitez looked fearless. I had just the opposite impression. I thought it made Wilfred look like a little boy looking up at a bully as if to say "I'm not scared, I'm not scared!". You have to tilt your head slightly down and just move the eyes ala Wolverine or Batman lol. I thought Benitez looked tight and nervous and was putting on a front doing that stupid stuff.

Best way for a middleweight to deal with a 78 inch reach, he took away that awesome jab.

Benitez looked like a cool cat and even had a smirk during his staredown v Leonard.

Hearns was too powerful and quick at welter for Duran.
