Ali`s body was very soft v Frazier and he was slimmer in the 60`s.

You can`t get a body like that without lifting weights.

After Muhammad lost to Ken Norton in their first fight,he swore that he was going to be all business from that moment on. He kept it up pretty well from the second Norton fight up to the George Foreman bout, inclusive. He looked pretty awesome in those fights. Also the second one with Jerry Quarry figures as one of his best post-exile performances. After regaining the title in Zaire he took his foot off the gas again and gained weight. Up until he retired for two years in 1978 he never weighed less than 220 lbs again. It's a shame because he'd have made a lot of his post-Manila bouts easier for himself.

Spectacularly inaccurate comment from someone with obviously no idea how roids work. Holyfield’s desire and work ethic kept him in shape.

He was a bit of a glutton.

He loved hamburgers so much he opened a burger joint called Champ Burger.

Inside the restaurant, everyone wants to meet him. He patiently shakes hands and signs his name for every one of them. Then he orders two Whoppers, fries and a large Coke for himself, and buys meals for Russ and Abdel. The three men squeeze into a booth, Russ bagging the seat next to his hero. Ali takes one of his Whoppers from its cardboard container and demolishes it, then spreads his fries across his plastic meal tray and douses them in ketchup.

Holyfield liked the women just like Ali did but Ali could just charm them with his wit and personality. Holyfield had no personality so he had to impress the ladies with his muscles so he trained like hell.

Muhammad Ali was in the 212 lb range, 1964-1967, I believe in the second Henry Cooper fight in May 1966, Ali was 203 lbs.

I remember many years ago, seeing a clip of Ali that must have been taken in 1980 or so.
Ali's sitting in a chair, and he lifts up his shirt, revealing a nice layer of fat. He grabs a handful of his rather ample belly and complaint that no matter how hard he trains, he just can't get rid of it.

I was quite young at the time, but the video clip always stuck with me for some reason.

That’s not true at all. Multiple strong boxers (such as Cleveland Williams) and athletes in general attained their physiques without even touching weights. As a matter of fact many fighters and trainers feel lifting weights hinders progress in the ring.

Poor diet and decreased hormone production due to age and getting hit in the head a lot.

Now how exactly do you think Williams and Norton looked the way they did?

Sometimes it's good genetics. A mesomorph with the right genes can become jacked within months with basic body weight exercises, calisthenics, running, and watching what they eat. High metabolism and a naturally lean/athletic physique could be part of it too. Many old school boxers did not use weights whatsoever and this is common knowledge. Many trainers chewed them out for it and forbade it.

Now you’re in my wheel house bud. I’ve been around gymnasiums my whole lift. Lifting, gymnastics, weightlifting, swimming, track the list goes on it’s a big joke.

And the Meso, ecto, endo stuff is one of the most nonsense studies on the planet lol. It consisted of mostly looking at the body types of naked college kids. It’s all rubbish.

If you think anyone is getting jacked doing the body weight stuff they have in boxing gyms you’re very gullible it’s a myth.

Norton lifted heavy sh1t it’s not rocket science. He was a college athlete ffs and was a marine.
