Read a book called “the fall guys” by Marcus griffin, it’s a great book on professional wrestling in the 1920s, boxing is at that state now.
WWE is more exciting and entertaining than boxing. Wrestling, the TV kind, has always been a lot more fun to watch than boxing. For one thing, it's humorous and not so serious. For another, those big, muscular, ass kicking women wrestlers KO any ring card girls. Even the Tecate girls.
It is definitely becoming a circus. Old pros making 'comebacks' for a quick buck, MMA fellas getting involved, lack of big boxing match-ups etc. It just seems too diluted, which is a worry in my opinion. Too many belts, and too many inactive boxers isn't helping either. A quick look at the boards on this site speaks volumes.....many threads can be merged, many are being repeated. The true boxing fan is bored.

Actually Olympic and tournament type wrestling is more competitive thing than pro boxing: it is tournament format and you fight with everyone they gave you till end of tournament. You can't cherry pick anyone. Clinch fight and close fight in boxing is partially lost art, this yeah. While predictable outcome fights I think in modern times are more done with matchmaking etc like stuff and they are enough skilled there not to have any need for anything illegal to get desired outcome. Specialists with decades long pro experience might research potential opponents resumes and all their fights in depth and be excellent advisors to help here. Then there are clauses and hometown fights to add to this. Yeah, it turns more like close to pro wrestling or circus wrestling. If fanbases did not had mentality like : bum or with 0 and champ, approach might be different. Then we have fans calling fighters with maybe 20-2 record as exposed hype jobs and crying about prospects with 20-0 records who had fought bums and mismatched opponents. Pro boxing industry is like all service and entertainment industry: they will deliver what is in demand. Demand is to see undefeated? Okey, they will deliver. In elite level restaurant if you had ordered vine, they will not gave you whiskey. The same is with pro boxing. It is service, entertainment industry. Ppl get what they are ready to pay for.

Watching old fights alleviates some of the pain but my tolerance towards these clown fights is thinning exponentially. My biggest gripe is with the bad scorecards, the frequency with which they're coming out is alarming .
It has always been that way to some extent, from the barnstorming days early on to Jack Johnson fighting a robot or Ali fighting the little asian dude. I think the bigger problem is that there are serious matches to be made, they just aren't happening. Covid explains some of it, but there isn't enough money for promoters to keep guys active. Instead, they overpay them to fight twice every 18 months and keep them in the stable. Not a bad deal for the fighters, either, but it's awful for the sport.
