Mixed reactions when his names mentioned.
Let's forget his personality and base it on his fighting life.
On scales of 1 to 10, with 1 being the absolute pits, to 10 is world class, one of best super middle to walk the earth, where do y put him?

3 on a bad day (Ray Close, Dan Schommer).

A solid 8 at his best (Nigel Benn, Michael Watson, Graciano Rocchigiani) .

Chris had an amazing chin, big heart, solid power and good skills. Fights with the likes of Toney and RJJ would’ve been interesting and given a clearer indication of just how good he really was but that aside he was an excellent boxer without a doubt.

Dan Schommer beat Chris, as far as I remember anyways. Strange to do such a sudden disappearing act. Dan was someone to look out for after “losing” to Eubank he was on the map and then… “poof” without much of a trace the southpaw left boxing.

Good reliable fighter, very hard to like though, strong, fit and durable.

talk about Protection in Boxing, absolutely, but Eubank is one of the few whom I can think of that Protected Himself.

Why he never went for a U.S fight, especially having lived there and trained there, one can only believe it wasn't in his better interest!

Chris was one of the few to admit he was always after his own interests I respect it. He knew his level and did not fancy suffering for a legacy he could not have. Stupendous man that Chris.

it's supposed to be a Sport and Competing is supposed to be Won Meritoriously, so I disagree.

About 7 or 8. Very good fighter with one of hardest chins in the business.

Absolutely solid chin. One of the best in that era, along with Toney.

Won’t be near any hall of fame after his historic infamous ‘mugs game’ comments and he was seen in the US as a guy trying to ruin the sport or bring it into disrepute.

But there’ll never be another like him.

With that said he had the longest unbeaten record in boxing from 85-95 with 44 fights (20 of them world title fights). And put in two of the best losing efforts I’ve ever seen from a returning legend vs Calzaghe and Thompson back to back.

Second Watson fight probably the best fight I’ve ever seen. The outcome kept it from being celebrated as such.

Leaving aside his preening narcissism.Brave guy in the ring, [not outside where he avoided the best US fighters],did not fight for 3 minutes of a round, great chin, had some dodgy decisions that went in his favour, very good but not great fighter, imo

Think that sums him up perfectly.
Good fighter. Different from run of the mill British fighters, especially back then.
Should have done more maybe to meet the top names of his time but then again he had a good deal going with Sky and his WBO belt.
Showed he did have guts against Benn and Watson.
Chin wise, I'd say one of the best ever Brit wise.
