I was in work before and got thinking about this one ..In your mind ..who are the most unlucky fighters in history...fighters blessed with absolutely everything needed to make it to the top and in your mind should have been world champions...but due to the misfortune of being born in the wrong decade or in a weight class stacked with atgs they never picked up a belt or had multiple shots but couldn't get over the hump.
Got to be Korobov, poor man can't seem to catch a break from injuries and robberies, his stamina was always a problem, even in the ammy days but his skills and ring craft were very good. I felt he beat Charlo but was shafted bad on cards.
Bo Bo Jackson. At 15 he torn a 26, prime SRR a new one. During a sparring session he hit Sugar so hard in the guts with a left hook, Sugar let out a scream like a girl. Sugar blamed his performance on staying out drinking too much the night before. A few days later a well rested Robinson and Bo Bo went at it again. Bo Bo toyed with Sugar. Dropping him several times before SRR rip his gloves off and threw them at Bo Bo, missing of course. SRR threw poor ol Bo Bo out of the gym. A few weeks later, Bo Bo was working on his pops farm when a mule went wild and pulled a plow up over Bo Bo ripping his legs off. He almost bled to death. He never stepped foot in the ring again. Tragic!!!
Definitely Herol Graham is a standout to me. Docked a point against McCallum, then only needed to stay out of the way against The Hawk for 1 round. Cruising at 38-0 for an assured title shot, takes a tickover fight against a (then unknown) Sumbu Kalambay........ Michael Brodie. Absolutely robbed against Jorrin..... Then has a few meat grinder fights, before meeting a prime In chin Chi and Scott Harrison.......
Currently Dillian Whyte, mandatory for ages, takes the povetkin fight, is absolutely winning the fight and gets SLEPT. Comes back, and wins the rematch, but doesnt really get his redemption because povetkin looked wrecked from covid, Completely different man from the first. Meanwhile the fury vs AJ fight almost gets made, wilder wins court case and fury wilder 3 happens. It looks like we are gonna get AJ/Usyk v fury before a Whyte title shot aswell.
Pirog was very good boxer and honest man. He get fight vs GGG and they both agreed to fight. Then Pirog get back injury preventing him to train normally. Pirog for sure might hide this and get highest paycheck for fight in his life if he just had stepped in the ring vs GGG.
Tony Sibson. British, European & Commonwealth champion, viirtually unbeatable at that level. Unfortunately Hagler was at his peak at world level. He had 2 more shots at the world title, but his heart wasn’t in it after a long career.
