How would Cooper fair against the likes of Holmes, Bruno, Witherspoon, Page, Smith, Weaver, Coatzee, Tubbs, etc etc etc... Can he become champion? Can he dominate the era? Or will his efforts prove to be not enough just as he did in the early 90's? Who will beat Cooper beat and who can beat Cooper? Would like to know your thoughts...
Cooper had problems with big tall guys (Carl Williams, George Foreman, Riddick Bowe, Corrie Sanders) but performed well against elite 6'1'' - 6'2'' boxers like Holyfield, Mercer, Moorer though still came up sport. I'd expect him to be a contender in that era but it's unlikely for him to win the belt let alone dominate the division in the Larry Holmes era.
he did well with the smaller heavyweights, but when he fought bigger guys like the Bowe size guys he would be overpowered. Skillwise he was good, just too small for heavy. Evander sure found a home for the uppercut once he had a few rounds.
And with crack cocaine, which was the real problem. He'd be another forgettable Larry Holmes contender that lost every round and got stopped late.
