Many people point out that Mike Tyson never beat an ATG in or near their prime. While that is true, that doesn't mean he wouldn't beat many ATG's before & after him. In your opinion, which ATG's does he beat & who does he lose to. My Picks Johnson - Tyson KO Early Dempsey - Tyson KO Early to Mid Tunney - Tyson Mid to Late KO or UD Schmeling - Mid Round KO or UD Louis - Tyson Early to Mid KO Charles - Tyson Mid to Late KO Walcott - Tyson Early to Mid KO Marciano - Tyson KO Early Patterson - Tyson KO Early Liston - Tyson UD Ali - Ali UD Frazier - Tyson Early to Mid TKO Foreman - Foreman Mid TKO Holmes - Tyson UD Holyfield - Tyson UD or Late TKO Lewis - Tyson Mid-Late KO or UD Wladimir Klitschko - Tyson Mid to Late TKO or UD
Johnson - Johnson UD Dempsey - Tyson KO Early Tunney - Tunney UD Schmeling - early KO Louis -Louis KO 6 Charles - Tyson SD Walcott - Tyson Early to Mid KO Marciano - Too tough to call Patterson - KO Early Liston - Liston KO 8 Ali - Ali TKO 11 rounds Frazier - Frazier TKO 12 rounds Foreman - Foreman 2nd round TKO Holmes - Holmes TKO 10 Holyfield - Holy either a UD or TKO in 9 Wladimir Klitschko - Tyson UD
My Picks Johnson - Tyson KO Early (while there a case, Johnsons style to outdated to deal with the pressure of a young Tyson imo) Dempsey - Tyson KO after a entertaining slugfest Tunney - Tyson SD Schmeling - Tyson KO first 3 rounds Louis - Louis TKO Charles - Tyson UD Walcott - Tyson Early to Mid KO Marciano - To be honest I have no idea but all I know is its a absolute WAR Patterson - KO1 Liston - Liston KO in 6 Ali - Ali UD/if a 15 rounder, TKO13 Frazier - another tough one to call, FOTC Frazier TKO 9th Foreman - Foreman KO inside 5 Holmes - Holmes TKO 7th Holyfield - Holyfield UD Lewis - Lewis RTD Wladimir Klitschko - Tyson UD
Ali, Lewis, Holmes and Liston are either even money or slight dogs. Iron Mike should be favored over everyone else.
Johnson - Tyson by KO within 6. Resembles the Thomas and Green fights. Very ugly rough start at first, but eventually Tyson breaks him down. Dempsey - Tyson in 4 in an incredibly exciting and furious back and forth slug fest. Both men badly hurt. Tunney - Tyson KO in 8. Tunney survives for a while with his speed and craftiness but body blows and great accuracy eventually catch up with him and slow him down. Resembles the Tillis fight, but ends with the knockdown. Schmeling - Tyson KO within 2. Louis - hmm tough one. Really depends on if Louis can take Tyson rushing in with that piston like jab, his does he respond? Does he become more reserved and have a low output choosing to "box"? Does Louis try to trade and slug it out as he did with Galento and Buddy? So many ways this can go. I favor Tyson 6/10, most likely a KO or TKO either way. Charles - Tyson KO within 4. Charles makes this interesting for a while with his well rounded inside fighting and boxing ability but is simply too small to handle the power and lacks the power to really make Tyson respect him. Walcott - Tyson KO within 7. Walcott earns his respect with a very spirited performance tho and looks excellent early with his superb footwork and counters. Marciano - Tyson by TKO within 5. Rocky is dropped and covered in streams of blood and the ref saves him from himself. Might resemble Frazier vs Chuvalo. Patterson - Tyson KO within 2. Liston - like the Louis fight, this depends on how Tyson reacts. If he backs up and keeps getting nailed by those heavy jabs and uppercuts, Tyson may go in a defensive shell. Could end up looking like the Douglas fight but even worse since Liston hit harder, was even more aggressive, and went to the body more. On the other hand, Liston may show up out of shape and having spent several weeks drinking. The first solid blow might have him deciding to just sit on his stool. In regards to Tyson, if he isn't intimidated and can get past that jab, this would be a slugfest for the ages that would make the Ruddock fights look like Mayweather vs Berto. In which case I'd leans towards Tyson by TKO within 9 more often than not due to his hand speed and more polished combinations. Ali - 60's Ali wins by UD or late round TKO. Tyson likely beats most versions of 70's Ali by a very close decision or unanimous depending on if this is pre or post Zaire.. Frazier - Tyson likely stops him within 6. However, if it goes past that round, Frazier takes over. Foreman - either a very epic brawl that goes either way with both men hitting the canvas, or Foreman completely subdues him and stops him within 4. Very dangerous matchup. Holmes - Tyson by TKO within 10. Has to come from behind to win tho. Fight of the decade candidate. Holyfield - Holyfield always has Tyson's number. Either late stoppage or UD. Lewis - hard to predict, but I lean toward Lewis TKO mid to late. People dismiss the fact Lewis was older than Tyson and pretty shopworn himself. He feasted on small aggressive guys. Wladimir Klitschko - Tyson KO within 7. Especially if the ref deducts points for excessive clinching.
