The past tense was more referring to the time he had out of boxing.. which was almost 3 years. He didn't have any unusual time out of the ring before that (7 years running or so), and since his comeback he could have fought more, but nothing too unusual considering the pandemic. If it's bipolar and you want to tell me it was always there, always will be - I've no problem believing that (I'm certainly no expert).

So you have a largely uninterrupted 13 year professional career with one big gap. What was the difference with that 3 year gap considering the bipolar was always there? Seems pretty obvious that he just had a good time smashing the drink and drugs more than ever before.

I'm going to spurs to watch the fight but I'm sitting right at the back.

Anyone got any experience going to a match when you're this far back? Are the screens good enough?

From my understanding BIPOLAR is episodic - Long periods of mania, long periods of depression. Feel sorry for anyone who goes through it.

    People confuse Borderline with Bopilar.

Borderline is the one where it's up one minute down the next.

I think people who don't understand mental health conditions are best not to comment.

There's a spectrum for each and every mental health condition, BPD/EUPD, Bi-Polar, Depression, Bulimia, OCD, Schizophrinia etc, etc, quiet symptons, hidden symptons, dual diagnosis, all sorts of **** and unless you have lived along it, witnessed it, worked in it I can understand its easy to be confused by them.

One persons experience and how they act are not exactly comparable to another with the same conditon. They aren't Storm Troopers coming off a conver belt of mentally ****ed people acting exactly the same way.

Bi-Polar is by definition up and down.

@N17 is your main man for this question.

Watching the game (on TV) yesterday, the screens looked mightily impressive.

Borderline is emotional disregualtion often brought on by childhood trauma/neglect/abuse etc, my wife has it.

    Bi-Polar is a chemical imbalance.

Both can be up and down.

What a brilliant post. I agree with this 100%. Fury is running his mouth about mental health which is good to a point but there's the other 99% that needs to be spoken about. Thing is, the money men behind him are using it as a marketing tool and have very little knowledge of it themselves. They've shoved mental health under one banner.

I have adhd. I take medication for it. To get a diagnosis I had to go private which cost me £600 because they didn't do adult assessments in my postcode. I then had to pay £75 a month for meds for a bit before the NHS took over the prescription. I'm very lucky as I can just about afford it all but what about the people that can't. Chances are that having a disorder has been detrimental in your life opportunities and you're on the bones of your backside earning very little. How on earth can those people get assessments and afford the medication which by the way have changed my life? This is what Fury needs to be banging on about if he truly cared about raising awareness.

Yes but it's not just a case of short term mood swings, it's long episodes of mania and depression.

Being hyper reactive to circumstance experience mood swings is one thing, bi-polar episodes happen regardless of how your life is going.

Bi polar is a mood disorder, not a personality disorder, and it has nothing to do with circumstances, although circumstances can make it harder to deal with, you'll go through the episodes regardless.

    Agree.
Mental health services within the UK are shockingly bad and although Fury deserves credit for speaking out about his own issues if he does want to play the role of mental health embassador he could do much much more for this point.
Money men behind the scenes will shamelessly use any little thing to try and get their man "ahead", not saying that I agree, just saying that this is the world of which we have created.

In football terms, Joshua to date has fought English Championship level opponents (except Wlad) and is more Carlton Palmer than Messi. Sat he makes his 2nd EPL performance.

So in effect, you are slating him for facing his mandatories ordered by each organising body?

    Okay then.

Maybe your ire and discontent should be aimed at the bodies putting the likes of Povetkin, Pulev etc as his challengers.
