The reason why use "inept" is because I've never seen a fighter actually get hit as much trying to avoid punches as Cotto it was as if his timing was messed up , the only fight I see him showing good defense successfully is the the Geale fight where Geale got too predictable with the double jab right hand. He was also way too susceptible to getting blinded by a jab and then hit around or under the guard . Thoughts?
Was a sucker for uppercuts in the first Margarito fight, got beaten like he'd stolen a bike in the Pacman fight, Mayweather unloaded combos on him keeping a stiff arm to obstruct his vision, got schooled by Trout and although he gave good account of himself in the Cinnamon fight he got countered loads.
Antonio had hardened gloves and Floyd got hit by Cotto a lot in that fight too, he did well v Manny in the first few rounds of that fight.
Cottos defense was decent theres much worse fighters when it comes to defense than him and i dont like Cotto i thought he was a diva and always looked miserable, took himself way too seriously.
