More often than not old fighters fail when they come up against a class pressure fighter, no matter how good they are.

    Holman Williams against Jake LaMotta

    Bernard Hopkins against Joe Calzaghe

Archie Moore against Floyd Patterson and Rocky Marciano

    Roy Jones against Glen Johnson

What examples exsist of an old fighter in the twilight of his career who were able to overcome class pressure fighters?

Bob Fitzsimmons against Tom Sharkey would be a fair call.

Tunney was technically in the twilight of his career when he beat Dempsey. Though Dempsey wasn't really all that great of a pressure fighter anymore.

    Antonio Tarver against Glencoffe Johnson?

I think Tarver won both fights.

Both Tarver and Johnson were old though.

    James Toney against Vasilly Jirov.

"Irish" Bob Murphy while not a pressure fighter in the true sense of the word nevertheless was an aggressive slugger who ended up taking a pasting at the hands of Jake LaMotta in their return bout. Jake who had a million miles on him by then and was only a few fights away of calling it a career mixed both boxing and brawling and defeated his much younger, stronger hard hitting foe and had him on the verge of a stoppage in the 9th round when he pummeled him along the ropes towards the end of the round.

    These fights come to mind:

Ali over Frazier in the Thrilla in Manila

    Monzon over Valdez (twice)

Well, Frazier was more over the hill than Ali at that stage of their careers imo. That´s like the Tarver-Johnson thing. I don´t think it fits very well in.

    Morales against Pac.

I can not think of any recent old boxers who won against solid pressure fighters.

Floyd is not old when he humiliated Hatton.

Casamayor-Katsidis (stretch of the world class)
Holyfield-Tyson (althought Tyson had turned into a bit of a slugger)
Lewis-Vitali (Vitali isnt a traditional pressure fighter but he threw **** loads of punches which is pressure for a 37yo Lennox)

    Not the best examples perhaps
