Cooper knocked out Ali, practically. Would Mike Tyson have had a good puncher's chance against Ali?

Despite Ali displaying a great chin during the 70`s, Cooper amost had him out with one shot, was Tyson`s hook more powerful than Cooper`s and could the hook that destroyed Tubbs have KO`d Ali from the 60`s?

How is it surprising that an all time great heavyweight H2H monster like Our 'Enery surpassed the likes of Tyson in punching power?

I'm not sure I even understand the premise of the question.

A finisher like Tyson, always has a punchers chance.

Ali took Shavers best shots but couldn`t take Cooper`s, could he take Tyson`s?

Ali holds numerous fantasy victories on this forum over Tyson. Cooper almost knocked Ali out on his first try. Tyson couldn't pull it off at all despite being given numerous fantasy attempts.

Cooper was a much better puncher than Tyson. Cooper was also a much better puncher than Shavers, since as you pointed out, Shavers couldn't even floor Ali.

You can make a case against any fighter, by looking at their worst performance, and then substituting in an ATG.

    Literally anybody!

    Nonsense.

Prime Ali holds fantasy victories over an unprecedented number of opponents. FOTC Frazier, Foreman, Holyfield, Dempsey, Tyson, Johnson, Lewis, Vitali, Bowe, Ingo, prime Liston, Wlad...it's an absolutely massive resume of punchers. Cooper is the only fighter who managed to do what he did to Ali. Sir Henry fully deserves his reputation as one of the most murderous heavyweight punchers in history.

I get your point, but was Cooper technically one of the most murderous cruiserweights in history? He also hit harder than Steve Cunningham, Ali was open to hooks and Fury is open to right hands, both of them showed amazing powers of recovery when hit with devastating shots despite being badly hurt by relatively small heavyweights respectively.

As we have agreed, those fantasy victories, all have an asterisk next to them.

I had to bleed myself white, to get that acknowledgment out of you, but I seem to have it.

Now when we get into results in the real physical universe, then everybody either got decked, or didn't fight anybody of note, or was in the Uzcdun/Chuvalo/McCall category.

How about May 21 1966? Muhammad Ali tore up Henty Cooper, 14 stitches, no knockdown. At least Ali got up from the knockdown against Cooper in June 1963, he did not fumble for his mouthpiece or get counted out, or leave a trail of excuses.

Furey open to right hands? How many flush right hands did that great right hand puncher Wilder land last time out?

A few in the first round despite being on rollerskates at the time.

Cooper dropped Ali yet 8 months later Sonny Liston landed a few bombs on him that had little effect. It's not a 60's vs 70's durability thing the fact is that sometimes you just get caught perfect. It happens. Ali was up at 4 or 5 and walked to his corner pretty steadily. Right from the start of the next round he stopped mucking around and finished it. Tucker hurt Tyson briefly with a left uppercut of all things and i doubt it was as hard as Coopers shot. It just caught him right, unsighted. He too recovered well and dominated most of the bout from there. Kalambay got caught by Nunn etc

They can't have been too flush as if Wilder landed a few flush right hands we know what happens.
