I don’t think that’d help. Emile Griffith got brain damage and he was as safety first as they come what got him IMO was the rabbit punching from whoever he pissed off in the ring Nino fouled the crap out of him whenever he clinched because he was so frustrating.

So with the right Ref you’d be safe. But more often then not I think the ref wouldn’t put up with that sh1t for long aha.

True. Best to also have great punching power and be cuddly like Foreman. End your fights quickly, have a deterrent, and be just enough of a lovable grandpa that the viewers don't want to see people rabbit punching you.

Or I guess you could practice really elaborate clinchwork to cut down the vulnerabilities to rabbit punching. Though that might create more problems than it solves.

At that point, you're southpaw Jack Johnson, tho.

I do wonder whether there are useful things to learn by looking at the most successful old fighters. Big George, Moore, Hopkins, etc.

Might as well know early what your style will have to look like past a certain age.

Cooney took a bunch of punches to the face and was a substance abuser like a typical CTE candidate, but would’ve had a southpaw’s brain organization. Proves nothing, of course.

Moorer has depression. I don’t think it’s caused by CTE, but I don’t know his history either.

Do you have any examples of southpaws who got CTE?

Boxers yes,. but not Southpaws off the top of my head. I think regardless if your a lefty or righty, any blow to the head would put you at risk.

Well, I can name about 20-30 boxers with confirmed or suspected CTE and none of them are southpaws. I think it’s strange.

Hmm. Just because language isn't affected doesn't mean you don't have CTE.

That’s true, but it’s way easier to catch with speech problems.
