Mate, its not. This fight shouldn't be sanctioned. Browne lost to a Rugby League player last time out in the 1st round and nearly got KOd by another former rugby league player who is shot to bits himself John Hopoate in his previous other outing. If Frank Warren did this, you'd be all over him for this and rightly so. You may as well get Danny Williams out there.
He's a former World Champion, he's got great pedigree, been in with some big names, he's looking to overcome adversity and give the division one last crack, he's hungry.......but so is Babic, the man that stands in his way. It's going to be a fascinating spectacle, two warriors putting it all on the line, at this stage I honestly couldn't pick a winner, a real 50/50 and potentially a fight we could be talking about for years.
I’m not fan of the BBBC at all, but I really don’t get the ‘how have they sanctioned this fight’ talk. Lucas Browne is 4-3 over the last few years as much as the Gallen fight was awful, it’s one fight, sh*t happens in boxing. He’s 29-3 and whatever, former world champion (ish) against a hyped prospect. I don’t think they can be stepping in here because it’s a completely subjective decision and one that they should be making on a lot of other fights and fighters otherwise. Dorian Darch for the example has lost his last 7 inside three rounds and he keeps getting a shot. In my opinion this is completely on Matchroom. The perception is that Browne is completely shot and Babic is already considered a circus act. It’s horrible matchmaking and actually makes the show a laughing stock. But fans telling the board to ‘step in’ is misplaced and if they done it for this there would be no consistency and a PR stunt (which BBBC have shown themselves capable of in the past).
Corrected that for you bud. You're right upon reflection mate. It's not on the board I suppose It's on the promoters etc. I just question Browne's integrity and motivation. I believe for a few years now like Molina and co that they are ready to drop to the canvas at the first opportunity. I know journeyman do the same tho.
If Lucas Browne is diving in the 1st round against Australian rugby players. Then he dives in the 1st against Babic. It will be a miracle if this fight goes into round 2
I remember how shocked I was to see how slow and cumbersome Browne had gone when he first started fighting on Matchroom cards. It is literally unbelievable how slow he is, he makes Chisora look like a nifty bantamweight. For me any fight involving him is a joke. I don’t even think a street fight with him wouldn’t even be entertaining at this point. Babic is terrible, they must have realised this ad this is simply to keep him going along the railway avoiding the inevitable for longer.
