What an interesting career Nelson had. He learned on the job and suffered numerous losses early in his career. He had a spotty middle career and then was a cruiserweight monster. When I think of the heavyweight Jones I think of only the Ruiz fight and not all of the latter part of Jones' career bouts where he was soft and occasionally bloated. I believe the Ruiz version of Roy Jones still has enough greatness to beat a very good Nelson.
Nelson, actually turned his life around after receiving the deluge of hate. People should show a bit of love here, Nelson is a man.. A man! Not a beast!!!
I have been looking for that one for quite a while. According to Nelson he tried to make a fight of it early on, tasted the power, and then decided to just survive. I've snagged most of Sanders' fights but a couple still elude me.
I sat through Nelson/Deleon; I paid money to watch Akinwande/Nelson! I cannot forgive or forget, but I do accept from Andries to Sellers he was a fine all round fighter, maybe the best 200lber on the planet for them five years or so.
LOL. It was just a bit tongue in cheek there, me taking the mick out of Johnny. But your right. He did sort himself out and actually made himself a champ for years. Even if it was the WBogus.
Laugh all you like. Nelson may well have lifted the IBF title against Warring...if only some idiot at ringside didn't shout "Remember the De Leon fight!" during the intros.
