Fury in Wilder 1 is an odd case since he had so badly abused his body and had been inactive for long. For others the progression from poor to shot is gradual.

Christ. Fury was in great shape for Wilder. Fury didn't walk out of a pub and fight Wilder. Fury had three fights that year. He was 14 pounds lighter in the first fight than he was for the rematch. And he danced all night in fight one.

A year of training and two tuneups clearly did wonders. He was inactive for a WHOLE three and a half months before the first Wilder fight.

He wishes he could be that busy before their upcoming fight.

Was it not common knowledge usyk was going to heavyweight tho prior to ruiz even fighting joshua. I thought usyk said he wouldnt step aside for joshua v fury. Pretty sure koogan asked him in an interview about it...was it not more of a case of eddie putting in a special request to the wbo for the fury v joshua fight.

You,ll probably know more about it than me tho tbf.

Different eras. HW's were smaller in Foreman's era. Foreman was big then. Today, he'd never have that nickname.

Hell, even Lewis wouldn't be big in this era.

Again, though, these can be the same thing.

If Joshua didn't exercise the rematch clause straight away then Usyk had a shot at three belts and (if he won them) could then approach AJ to fight with much better control over the money split.

If Joshua exercised it and won (as he did) Usyk would be at the front of the queue for Joshua.

Either way, it's not unreasonable to think Usyk saw that cashcow and wanted to milk it.

It depends... I mentioned Hamed (Vs MAB) earlier... He was clearly in terrible condition and struggled badly with making weight - in theory he could've trained through that as Fury did, but then his knackered hands were also catching up to him to an extent that there was little point...
He could've tried (like Pac) and made more of a go of it, but hindsight tells us he didn't (which means psychologically he couldn't, in context).

If you pushed Foreman hard he gassed in 6. Doubt he ever trained for 15, and it showed.

He was going to let that "cashcow" fight Tyson Fury two times so he (Usyk) could fight for the vacant WBO belt.

I know you want to give him the benefit of the doubt. That's fine.

But he demanded a mando hours after Ruiz won a belt. He's made no attempt to force a Joshua fight since Joshua regained the belts. And he was willing to let Fury step in last minute and bump him out of the picture for a year because it meant he could fight for a vacant belt.

Doesn't sound like a guy who was focused on Joshua. We see what guys who are focused on winning the title are willing to do to ... like go to court to force a third meeting. No step asides.

We'll see Saturday. Maybe I'll be surprised and Usyk will resemble the Usyk of his younger days and dazzle us all. Hope so.

Because, to me, he looks more like Usyk's dad (dad body and all).

Indeed... With the expectation that he'd win it and have a better say over how much he'd get for fighting Joshua.

We all saw how frustrated he was with how little power was available in the actual negotiations... A belt would've given him much more.

And either way AJ would've wanted it - if he beat Fury it'd get him back to undisputed and able to choose which to drop... And if AJ lost to Fury then he'd want Usyk's belt so he had one belt at least.

(And again, I have this 70/30 Joshua... I think it's a cashout to Usyk and probably always was, but regardless of what else went on I think this would've been the aim of moving up to HW).

Ironically, Shawn Porter fought Usyk as an amateur.

They're the same height. Foreman just got fat, so what?

You know who are the same height? Tyson and GGG. If GGG eat himself to 215, they'd probably be the same size too, right?

You need to take bone structure and skeletal frame into consideration when you're talking about natural size. Height means very little if one is an Endomorph and the other is an Ectomorph. Take Sebastian Fundora for example.

Muhammad Ali and George Foreman were roughly the same size and weight

Why could Foreman punch holes through walls while Ali couldnt? Same size and weight, right????

Worthless comparison. GGG has never fought above 200
