Jose Medel, one of the most terrifying mexican punchers. When he beat the sh*t outta Harada, that's brutality at it's finest. Time and time again Medel has shown he is more than a force to be reckoned with. Even Jofre said this quote: "When I beat Medel at 1961, I felt unbeatable" How special Medel was... and here are other quotes of Medel

"He might not have the biggest punch but he was accurate, with a lot of technique and precision. That made him a very dangerous opponent." - Eder Jofre

"His quick counterpunches were invisible." - Fighting Harada

"I think it was a left hook that caught me in the 9th round. I really don't know what happened." - Jesus Pimental

"it came so fast and so hard I didn't know what hit me." - Misunori Seki

    Shifty Dando
Almost lost to history. He lost as many fights as he won. He was well respected in the boxing world. I had a friend that trained under him, and what he learned was awesome.
Shifty taught Roy to make the chains sing when punching the heavy bag, and Roy taught me.
I should go out, and teach those Hollywood actors.

Billy Papke, the guy was violence personified in his day and from all accounts a hell of a fighter, and former champion that nobody seems to mention, also Sugar Ray Seals, “the forgotten sugar Ray “ Olympic gold medalist, Aton of potential, excellent fighter, and career derailed because of an injury.

My favorite is the under rated Harry Matthews. If we are talking even lesser known Porky Dan Flynn seems like an interesting character I know nothing about. Seemed to have fought and lost to everyone but got some nice wins along the way

Hedgemon was a ripper of a fighter. Curtis Cokes is another damn good fighter also bested by Napoles that doesn't get much due nowadays.

I used to hear stories about him when I was boxing in my younger years.
They said he was so good in the amateur ranks that it was unreal.
They also told the story of Bernard boxing this top amateur boxer in a fight in which he couldn't land anything on Bernard to the point during the fight he got so frustrated he threw his hands up and quit during the fight.
The only thing that held him back in the pros was his durability.
That and they changed his style to make him more exciting which was not a good move.

Dave Charnley British lightweight of the late fifties early sixties.
A bull like southpaw with heavy hands who was a handful for anyone.
Beat good fighters and was beaten by only good fighters and fought many welterweights.
Many are convinced he was robbed against Joe Brown for the lightweight title in the Ring Magazine’s fight of the year in ‘61.

Both Manuel Ortiz and Jimmy Carter don't get the attention they deserve given their championship status. Far less accomplished, but no less fascinating to me also is Raul Macias.

    Forgotten fighters you say?

My son it's Tricky. Tricky Johnson Gomez an unknown Venezuelan/Pakistani (Jhang)/Palestinian (Akh) amateur fighter who had two pro fights dust years ago. Man don't know about Tricky uno. Man had two pro fights where he didn't hit or get hit for 15 rounds until the final second. Uno what you did? Tricked everyone into thinking you knocked him out. Wouldn't hurt a boxer.

I used to enjoy watching James Broad fight (heavy). He was a bit like a more powerful Leroy Jones, and there was something about his style that I found interesting. Of course, whenever he stepped up into the big leagues he got smacked back down hard.

Yvon Durelle comes to mind too, the way he just got from Moore's assault and tried his best to keep fighting is just nothing more than respect from me.
