^ This is what a dimwit looks like, folks :)
You only started watching boxing this year, right? You may swap Canelo for Derevyanchenko if you like. A draw by the champion counts as a defence.
Wade got $500000 to face Golovkin. Embarrassing when you consider they paid Ward 850K for the Brant fight. Even more embarrassing when Rob Brant got 30k :ohno Ward should have fought Golovkin and gotten a career high payday, but Ward didnt want that smoke.
Still no actual NUMBERS? Keep spinning those wheels.

It means plenty. It means Ward didn't want the action. It means Ward knew he was in over his head.
Of course he did. Golovkin is the cashman. Who TF does Ward think he is to demand 50% of the purse? Imagine GGG demanding Mayweather fight him at 160 for 50% of the take! Floyd would have pissed all over him and rightly so. Yet this is the deal that you want GGG to take
I've never had a problem with seeing Golovkin vs Ward. I think it would have been a good fight.
Ward couldn't beat up his mother  Please. Evern as a 160 guy Golovkin punches harder than him. Ward's best punch is the uppercut to the balls.
Kovalev won #1 and was fouled to a loss in #2
Meanwhile in real life Hopkins was padding his resume with guys like Hakkar, who make even Dominic Wade look like superman.

And in real life Hopkins was delivering these performances:

Canelo gave up his belt rather than fight GGG. Delahoya had a press conference saying Canelo needs time to grow into middleweight, he will be ready in 16 months. As for Ward, he came out from seclusion telling GGG to either fight him now or he's going up in weight. That was when GGG was signed to fight Lemieux.

GGG had him on the run gasping for breath looking desperate.

Canelo fought way more apponents that were smaller. Also, was there any undefeated elite middleweights at that time?

Canelo has a reason to be confident, he made it 24 rounds with GGG and didn't get KOED. Now he's ready to take on the world.

It was now or never, because Ward was going up.

in his first couple fights at a new weight too. took on the boogie man. and ggg went 24 rds with a guy moving up to fight him, asking for trench fighting mexican style, then got on skates to get jab happy. thats the reality of what happened. no matter how much mental gymnastics one does to make something different out of it. it is what it is.

He got away with losing. Lost a fight but got a win instead.

And to put this in context Kovalev was a bigger name than Jacobs and Lemieux. A ton of people were buying the fight to see HIM, and not Ward.
