    Yeah, I was referring to the best shots in the current fight. Not in general. We've seen much powerful shots from Joshua. In the end, it was again Usyk's "fault" that we did not see bombs.

    Just some meaningless notes

    * I am forced to ponder, and perhaps decide, if Usyk isnt a level above Loma. (I always had it reversed). At the end of the day, while the eye test is nice, its really about how effective you are at winning, not just looking good against overmatched opponents. Loma will always 'look' better than Usyk to me, but in terms of who is the more effective actual fighter? Seems its time I swap them places.

    * In a way, I view this as somewhat of a historic win. I know perhaps I shouldnt, I am sure there were plenty of other fights that Im not thinking of right now that came before this that prove it, but this was a special win for me because it really adds a nail to the coffin of a discussion and debate with quite a legacy these days, and that is heavyweights vs super heavies. How the old timers would do today, the 'do we need a superheavyweight division' ect, ect.

    What makes this win unique is that Usyk wasnt just the smaller fighter, but hes not a genuine power puncher. Whereas Hayes success at heavyweight could be attributed a great deal to his explosiveness and power, this was unique in that it showed an undersized fighter without explosiveness, and without true heavyweight power, can become champion in the superheavyweight era, based entirely on skills and pedigree.

    It adds another layer to the discussion, at the very least.

    It wasn't a tactic. He got forced in to it because he was up against a much better fighter.

    McCracken probably thought AJ would still get the home-cooked decision though - but with that near 10-8 round 12, they couldn't deny Usyk

    I was surprised how well Joshua was doing with his feet. He stopped Usyk moving to his right for most of the fight which kept AJ's right in play.
    AJ has become more nuanced and skilled. In a rematch he should try to land as many body shots as he can as that seemed to trouble Usyk.

    Man, hat's off to Usyk. Close to a perfect fight. I thought his weight might slow his work rate and stamina but he's just incredible.

    Usyk and Inoue are legit in any era.

    Yup. It went the 1 of 2 ways that I thought that Usyk would win tonight. I said that if AJ brought his A game that Usyk would win on points. If AJ didn't bring his A game then I predicted that Usyk would get a T/KO anytime after the 8th round.

    AJ did indeed bring his A Game tonight... He didn't gas out and boxed a very good fight. He lost to the better man on the night.

    I'm not sure now how things at elite level will work out for AJ now. Some fighters eat losses and spit them out (like my 'ol fave Del Boy) like it was just a bad day at the office on a Friday and come Monday they're good to go with no real negative effect. I'm not sure AJ is of that mindset. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he doesn't take the rematch.

    AJ's mental strength IMHO kinda reminds me of a fantastic looking highly tuned high powered super car that in the right "conditions" on the "right track" will just about beat most things most of the time.. However take it off the "track" or throw a bit of muck in the fuel system and the performance and its reliability goes out of the window.

    I may be wrong about AJ's mental durability but I'm thinking he's no old off road 4x4 diesel that just keeps going and going and going no matter what.

    Well have to wait and see.

    @Mitch87 hope you are alright mate, your man gave his all and no shame in losing to a better man.

    Though about you and CVs when listening to Chris Eubank Jnr on commentary tonight when he stated that only Floyd Mayweather has the perfect CV.

    You would have been right on him by reminding him we had a British fighter, the Pride of Wales that had a CV of 46 fights and 46 wins - one of our greatest ever Joe Calzaghe.

    How could he forget this legend that beat his old man FFS.

    I'm not sure if Usyk really is better than Loma but rather that being an athletic mover is harder to accomplish the bigger you get and therefore Usyk's opponents have a harder time dealing with it.

    At the lighterweights, almost all the top fighters are athletic as hell. Not so much past super middle imo.
