Rocky Marciano vs Oleksandr Usyk

I don't think this post has weathered very well.Marciano's challengers average age was 33.

 

Usyk by destruction.

 

And he lost 13 of those 23 fights.

 

So, still younger than Usyk

 

I don’t believe this is correct. That might be the average title challenger but overall career it’s lower.

 

But with a hell of a lot more pro mileage on their clocks,Walcott 68,Charles 96,Moore176!Even Cockell 78.
How many wars has Usyk been in? 2/3?

 

It's the first time I've seen calling a big number of fights a disadvantage. Sure, Charles had his best days behind him by the time he fought Rocky, but Walcott was absolutely in his prime and Moore was at least close to that.

Usyk himself isn't in his prime at this point by the way.

Ahh gotcha. To give perspective aren’t AJs challengers like average age of 36?

 

I'm really not into posting what everyone already knows ie Charles was past his best and better at175lbs where he may well have been as unbeatable as its possible to be.Moore was 40 odd.Walcott was better in the Louis days imo, not when he was 38 years old.Not to come down on Marciano ,apart from Valdes he beat who was around and given any chance against him.

 

Maybe they are, but who we discussing here? Marciano v Usyk, or AJ?

In passing if Marciano could get Usyk into a 16 foot ring as he did Cockell ,his prospects would increase dramatically, How big was the ring Saturday night I wonder?

 

I don’t think it has to be 16 foot. Personally I’d like to see more of Usyk. I’d like to see him against a short swarmer type. I don’t truly know how he’d do against the likes of Tyson Frazier Marciano Dempsey or Patterson. I know how Marciano did against great boxers. He knocked them out. It’s harder to punch down because it leaves you open for counters. Which may not be a good thing for a defensive minded fighters. But as much as I dismissed this post years ago I must give Usyk his due. He looked amazing and imo could historically compete with anyone. AJ is no pushover as he’s wrongfully being taken down a few notches by some.

 

Punching up isnt that easy either.Tyson ,Frazier ,Dempsey beat Usyk imo.
