Norton had a superb jab and arguably the best overhand rt in the divisions history. Im talking a true overhand rt. Alot of people dont seem to get that meaning. I see Nortons overhand catching Fury plenty while working behind that jab. Once Norton gets his rythem going he takes over the fight and is battering Fury by the final bell probably flooring him a few times in the process. People really overeating Fury at this point. Just like they were with Joshua
Fury is a unicorn fighter. Immensely talented on the physical side of the equation and mentally able to rise to the occasion in his bigger fights. Sooner or later, I fear the latter part of this equation will fail, but from what we've seen so far, he damn near sweeps the rounds with Norton.
Norton wins this fight convincingly. His body attack would be brutal to watch against a big man like Fury and his overhand right would be something Fury would have to focus hard to avoid the entire time. The strong body attack and always being on the lookout for the overhand right would make it hard for Fury to throw many effective punches. He doesn't have the power to keep Ken on the back foot, either. Boxers trying to move around and be slippery weren't the ones Norton had most trouble with. He did very well against Ali and Young, who are both at the very least as slippery and elusive as Fury, and obviously he did very well against Holmes, who is hardly a stationary target.
Nortons overhand right isn't what some make it out to be, though he was a strong puncher. Great workrate too. Some say Fury isn't that fast fast on his feet, Light years faster than Ken though. But fury knows where to be in the ring. He positions himself well. He would be a few steps ahead of Ken all night. Lorenzo Zanon was having his way with Norton till he got stopped, that was prime Norton. Fury is much bigger and heavyer. I think a better boxer also. I think fury could beat Ken. Could never count Ken out though
You would probably say the same about Ali had their fights not happened, yet Norton got better of him and Ali was certainly quicker and better than Fury.
Fury is a bit of a fraud. He beat a very old Wlad, and drew with Wilder who we know is just an average boxer. Okay--the draw was BS, but who else has he beaten and why is he selecting mediocre top 30-50 ranked guys for title fights? Let's not forget he was busted for PED's and might have been on something vs Wlad. Norton has his flaws, but he's an aggressive top boxer with one of the best body attacks, and some pop. I think he'd win a close decision here as Fury doesn't have the power to spark him
The other big thing either not being mentioned or simply overlooked in this fight is the fact that Norton has to punch up. He has to reach way up to hit this guy. Kenny punched down. His jab was straight. the looping right hand at best was at his level. That was a problem for him in the Forman fight-- But that is not reaching up to hit a moving target. Norton did not have that kind of balance and would need to get those feet about a foot closer. Kenny planted those feet and did not punch off his toes. And Norton has the habit of not letting his hands go until the opponent is right in his wheelhouse and in that optimal range. That is when he let those hands go to the body. Fury wears those trunks up high. anytime Kenny goes to the body with his hooks from the outside, he'd be hitting trunks and get warned about it. And if Norton does not land enough body shots say the first 8 rounds, he'll not stop the mobility of this guy and slow him down. Kenny needs or really has to have 15 rounds to beat this guy. Rounds 13/14/15 would be the dangerous one's for Tyson Fury. I think this bout looks like the first 8 rounds of the Norton--Holmes fight. But in that one Kenny landed enough body punches to slow Holmes down and finally start trading. Against a tall guy like Fury, I think Norton lands quite a bit less than that early and does not have the rounds available to catch up to this guy.
Norton would certainly match the skills of Fury, the only factor here is the size advantage. But by what we saw by Joshua-Usyk. Size isn't everything. Norton UD.
I can't see how a full time head hunter like Fury get past Kenny's tight cross guard and low line head movement and the fact that Fury is bigger and taller makes him much more susceptible to Kenny's overhand right, and easier target for Kenny's bodyshots. Can't see Fury beating Norton, Might as well get stopped.
