    James Toney.

James is an older, puffed up middleweight who would make a reasonable first HW opponent for Haye. And what better way for Haye to announce his presence in the heavies than to kick down the front door with a win over a legend?

Only problem is that Toney would very likely win, and very possibly even knock Haye out.

Toney is the definitive cagey fighter who can make you look bad without wasting energy, turn the body here....you miss....roll the shoulder here....you miss again. I like watching Toney fight.

Having said that there is no way a toned up in shape Haye loses to the current Toney. That fat ******* just doesnt have the training in him to be competitive with any one who is going to change the landscape of the heavies (not saying Haye will...... i mean anyone else as well)

Haye would get outboxed even by this version of Toney imo.

Yeah man i know what your saying with Toney - he just has that super elusive skill set that makes him hard to hit clean even when he comes in as the donut monster.

But my feel is that Haye is such a narcissist with his body and he comes in such good shape he is too much.

I dont want to see toney take to many more hard shots he can hardly speak as it is now :patsch and boy can toney take a shot and haye can certinaley deliver one, yes toney is elusive but haye is faster then you average heavy.

Not saying toney cant win, but it could also retire him at the same time :hat

Toney was outboxed by Sam Peter.
Let me repeat that OUTBOXED by Sam Peter.
Sam Peter has very little skill. Being knocked out by Sam Peter is no shame, but getting outboxed by him means it's time to hang up the gloves.

Just because Toney mustered up enough energy to land a few shots against Rahman in a round and a half of their 3 round mess does not mean he has found some sort of fountain of youth.

Also, what kind of statement is it coming itno heavyweight to beat up on a fat middleweight? Haye needs a better opponent than Toney. Toney's greatest Heavyweight accomplishemnet is beating Guinn?

Haye should fight a man who they compare him with... I say a fight with a good big contender in Europe.. Dimentrico is a good one.. Just to see how he fares.. Even that Virchis guy... See how he handles the power....

I think some do, it takes very little to get people enthused about their favourite fighters after all.

I agree with Bigcat, I think Dimitrenko could be a very interesting test (and tougher than many would expect).

Toney certainly is no favorite of mine. He's out of shape, lazy and just this side of bat-**** crazy.

But the dude can fight. He can find a way and win. I've seen him do it over and over again, and so have you. He is relaxed and sneaky in the ring, and he has the gift of dictating style and pace. He'll take the fight into deep waters, conserving his energy like a camel holds water.

Peter is a big, strong heavy who mustered a good show against Toney. Very close fights -- and Peter is a big guy who has proven he can HIT and battle on after being rocked.

Haye is quick, exciting, energetic and has some good pop for his division. He is also "chinny." I'm interested in seeing what he does bring up to the heavyweights. Not sure its a given that gaining weight solves a ceramic chin, or that show stopping power necessarily follows a fighter up through the divisions, but these are questions that will be answered.

And I'd love Toney to be the first to officially ask the questions.

    Virchis is bad news.

He can take a train to the temple and still come at ya.. much like McCall.
