I disagree. Tyson would fight in burst and would look really explosive and quick but just for one combo. Holyfield’s hands are just fast the entire course of the fight, if he was fighting in burst like Tyson, than his hands would look faster
What ?!?!? This is about who can punch faster from point A to point B, not about sustaining the speed throughout the course of a fight, which is ****ing irrelevant to our topic. Holyfield had good hand speed, but as soon as he roided and bulked up, that speed diminished a lot.
I said before and nobody agreed, I never really saw Evander as having quick hands. He looked to me to have slower hands than many of his quicker opponents: Dwight, Cooper, Tyson, Moorer..etc. Evander however compensated for this with activity, excellent timing, combinations, and stamina. He was just always moving and used feints to beat guys to the punch. If he had elite handspeed, he would have been damn near unbeatable and likely boxed like a HW Roy Jones or Ali. His speed also dropped off dramatically after Bowe I. I'd say: Patterson Ali Tyson Louis Dokes Honorable mention: Wlad Klitschko had freakish fast hands that he maintained till his mid 30s. I believe he was quicker than Byrd, Sultan, Chambers, and Haye despite his overall movements being slower.
I like your explanation, but Evander has much better handspeed than you credit him, noted that the quote I gave you is from Mercer and Bowe which both fought Holyfield past his best, and despite Tyson having 5 quotes, Pinklon Thomas said that Holyfield has the fastest hands and he fought both of them.
Holmes isn't on anybody's list? I don't know that anyone could throw a hard straight right as quickly after a jab as he could, and probably only Ali had a faster jab.
Not really, it's becuz they both share one common opponent which is Pinklon Thomas and he said that Holyfield has the fastest hands.
