that Wlad tended to throw his right hand from guard, while Wilder has to do a wind up...... Wilder probably has more raw power than Wlad, but he has to do that wind up, and he often struggles to land it against great boxers that can move....he has to find stationary guys to land it, Wlad's punch through guard was always great

And Wlad can hit with either hand. Beautiful hook.

Sometimes its overlooked that some of Wilders hardest hits and best knockouts are when he doesnt wind up.

    In a word, yes.

Wilder generates a great deal of power because he throws everything into his shots.

Wlad generates a great deal of power despite being primarily preoccupied with being defensively responsible, maintaining range, balance etc.

Wilder's straight right is not thrown with a huge wind up most of the time, and that's his most successful punch.

Yes I've always admired Wlad's punch tecnhique. His right hand thrown with no telegraphing, his text book straight right is as perfect as it gets.

Wilder does load up with it more, either by cocking the right hand or by stepping in with forward momentum to generate power. It's why Fury was right to push him back, don't give him the ability to generate forward momentum by stepping in and you don't have to fear the power of the right hand as it won't have the same power if he's throwing from a stationary position or moving backwards.

Wilder's right hand is world class, probably the only world class shot he throws. Yes, he does wind up on it a lot, but he can also throw it from a relatively stationary stance, and even on the backfoot as he did against Aortiz. It's not a patch on Wlad's right hand, but it's not a terrible shot in its own right from a technical POV.
