How long before Ali recedes to being a #2 or #3 heavyweight, except for boxing hipsters?

Here is the thing. There is no undeniable H2H GOAT.

As you point out, it's already happening. I love Ali, he's the greatest always for me, but the younger generation, coming up now or ten, twenty or more years from now? He may be seen as good for his time but just a name in the list of former boxers.
    Sad, but it happens.

As it should be. The top dogs from the 90s were superior to the top dogs from the 70s.

Again, as it should be. Ali had many flaws as a boxer (for which he compensated with his physical gifts), and more and more people are beginning to realise that, as they analize him with a clear headed/ objective mind, and are not influenced by all the stupid myths/stories made up by imbecile writers, contemporaries and so called historians.

Ali still is the biggest boxer in terms of impact on the sport. And his achievements are still amazing for his era.
Boxers should be judged based on what they achieved in their own era, and as long as that remains the case, Ali still has a legitimate claim at no. 1.
But if the criteria switches to how he'd do in H2H fantasy fights, in the next 20-30 years, objective and clear headed posters will no longer see him as no. 1.

If Fury beats Wilder again, then Usik and Joshua, he will rank very high.

Tyson wasted his potential and career, that is why he is not ranked that high.

There are plenty of us who still see him as the best ever H2H, but not the GOAT, cause that is about achievements.

As i had posted it's doubtful Tyson will ever come close to GOAT status.

I haven't seen many claiming that he is, unless we use H2H as the criteria.

He lost against all the good boxers he faced, and only won due to a lucky punch against Moorer, who is nowhere near the fop 4 top dogs of the 90s.
That does not look like doing that well to me. Not to mention the fact that I consider 90s Foreman as being better than 70s Foreman.

Moorer was well in front on all scorecards. He could have won easily if he would have lost the round on purpose, by running and avoiding contact.
