I would hardly call that hard sparring that dude is just pushing out his punch while Shields is the one loading up a bit.
Lighten up dude Shields is the one running her mouth saying she could beat up PPV Paul. If she’s willing to give it then she has to take it, no?
She's delusional. SHO let her ass go because her ratings were going in reverse even as her fights got ostensibly bigger. Then she did her own PPV to show the networks what a draw they were missing out on, and it inevitably tanked. Then she ran to this PFL mob crying about how mistreated she is in boxing and gushing over how lovely everything is in the land of MM(g)A(y). Now she's telling Sky Sports viewers that US networks were falling over themselves to do business with her, but she turned it all down because her dream is to box at Wembley. Sad part is, Sky's interest in Shields is strictly limited to using her as a foil to build up Savannah Marshall's name in their insistence on trying to manufacture popularity for womens' boxing and force it upon an uninterested audience (satisfying their subscription to this creepy political mandate that women must be strongly represented in every field, even fields they have next to no interest in). Doesn't matter how many Sephora employees she beats down, how many girly straps she unifies or how many divisions she does it in; PPV status and eight-figure paydays will never beckon so long as she is unable to produce evidence that enough people actually care and will tune in.
Any criticism that comes her way. This is what she wants though right, keeping her name relevant by injecting her controversial opinions into popular discussions. No such thing as bad publicity for T-Rex.
You feel like my post was made to defend Clarissa against online criticism? I dint care about that at all. Entertaining these circus bouts is part of what's killing boxing. Why would anyone waste space and time entertaining Jake Paul vs Clarissa Shields.
It could be argued the other way that Jake Paul’s circus act has helped bring boxing out of the doldrums and into the furore with a younger generation of fans now taking interest. Boxing has been in decline for many years. Everyone trying to emulate the Mayweather formula of protecting their 0 and being the A side who gets the most money and home advantages while avoiding the best competition available at the time in favour of an easier matchup which will keep their record padded and preserve their longevity. It’s a short sighted unsustainable model where only a small percentage make good money if they have the personality / draw to go with their skills, whilst the opponents and journeymen have to settle for a fraction of the purse and inevitably churn at a faster rate and have to move on from boxing. Promotors don’t help by keeping things in-house holding belts ransom and not wanting to do cross promotions. Paul has exposed much of this, as he has a bigger social media status / following than anyone in boxing and he uses it to full advantage. Most recently with Tommy Fury: the guy has only ever fought a handful of low level journeymen, lives off his brothers name and a casual profile from his stint on Love Island - yet has the audacity to turn down $1M because he thinks he should get a bigger piece of the pie, even though his market pull is dwarfed by Paul’s. The guy claims to be a pro boxer, has been given the opportunity to represent boxing and put an end to this clown show, plus enhance his profile with the added satisfaction of backing his words up by knocking out a YouTube sensation in front of a worldwide audience - yet the gypsy fighting man bottled it because he got too greedy. Excuse the TLDR tangent.
