8-4 Usyk, Briedis was sneaking in some hard shots regularly almost every round but Usyk controlled there whole fight, at no point did it feel like Briedis was imposing himself on Usyk at a stretch, a round here and there but nothing too consistent to give him the fight, very entertaining fight to watch though.
No. He didn't, he won 7 rounds in 12 rounder vs Briedis. with a lot of close rounds. Funny thing that Usyk never was able to control a single round vs tickets sales with him in Kiev. Yeah and this was reason why he fought on foreign soil. The same Gassiev and Briedis when fought vs Usyk were not under germans and Sauerlands had no reason not to place this in Kiev. Unless sales from live gates. Yeah, Kalle and Co had get this Briedis AFTER not before fight vs Usyk. Looks that most likely this needed next warranted fight ASAP after he didn't managed to KO Usyk. Germans had this WBSS final event where he might be placed on undercard and vuala. Usyk is very good for ppvs sales, not for live gates income in Kiev with him on cards. With some music bands they might get more $ from live gates than with Usyk fights. I even think to sell ppvs to ukrainians with Usyk's fights too is possible. Live gates, they not likely will pay huge price for tickets to see rich guys punching each other in the face. Some 2-25-30 bucks for ppv with Usyk they I think might pay, why not. Not all from them are poor and this kind of ppl usually uses computers a lot. Tikcets? If he does have a lot money, he more likely might pay for VIP table or lodge, some ppv too , why not. Simple tickets in crowd is different question.
There were a couple of close rounds and I could see Usyk winning it by anything between one and three points (I'm not above giving 10-10 rounds if I genuinely can't split them on the spot - better than guessing). I think 8-4 is slightly wide but at the same time there's no doubt for me that Usyk won a competitive fight. So I'd say 7-5 to Usyk is the best out of the options available above.
I had it 116-112 Breidis stayed competetive with Usyk even until the last bell - maybe the only fighter to have not been steamrollered in the championship rounds - but it was still a clear Usyk win in my view. But Breidis pushed Usyk harder than any other fight I have seen and probably tagged him more with hard clean shots than any other fighter I have seen him fight. Breidis is top drawer himself, and hopefully we will see that next year when he smokes Okolie!
