Hopkins vs Pavlik: Be Real AMSTERDAM!

If hopkins fights like he did against calzaghe, he'll lose a decision. If he turns up the output, he stands a better chance, but he also stands a better chance of getting caught by Pavlik. I think it's a very interesting fight. Like Calzaghe, Hopkins will try to get in Pavliks head, but I don't think Pavlik will be shaken at all. Pavlik and Calzaghe are both very calm and collected.

Kelly doesn't throw whirling slaps like Joe C I expect him to land less, but KO hopkins anyways. This is an example of one fight too if I've ever seen one.

Pavlik on the other hand is young, rangy, powerful, and has a huge workrate. Not to mention the fact that he's no slower than Hopkins, probably even faster at this point in their careers, and he's not a mindless brawler, he's an intelligent pressure fighter with the ability to box.

Boxing isn't what's going to come into play in this fight for Pavlik though, it's going to be about FIGHTING, pure and simple. The boxing will be up to Bernard who will be fight off the backfoot the majority of the time in non-stop motion.

While Hopkins is a master of angles and uses the ring better than anybody in the game, I don't think he has the gas in his tank to outlast a guy like Pavlik, who Hopkins will have a difficult enough time keeping on the outside for the above mentioned reasons, (eg, range, power, determination, punch volume, etc.), and he doesn't have the power to take Pavlik out in a single punch.

As far as the weight is concerned, I don't think it will hurt Kelly who will likely come in at around 170 which I'm assuming is his walkaround weight anyway, and Hopkins is not a puncher and at 43 years old is prone to gassing. The extra weight isn't going to hurt Pavlik, but it won't help Hopkins either.

So unless Hopkins pulls off something miraculous and knocks Kelly Pavlik out, likely by TKO, in a very risky move, Kelly is going to win this fight on points or by KO.

Hopkins is too old and Pavlik is young and determined.

I'm assuming that those of you who are picking Hopkins are picking him because you're in love with Calzaghe or maybe even Hopkins, but you need to view this situation objectively.

The Hopkins that fought Taylor might have been a different story, but this Hopkins might get knocked out. All it takes is for Hopkins to gas, get pressed against the ropes, and for Kelly to throw one big right hand or huge punch to his body the will start the beggining of the end.

bernard hopkins should retire IMO! im sick and tired of watching him "fight",or hold and wrestle...he´s a boring boxer,he´s old,he dont care if he win or loose...he´s only interested in a good payday,IMO.
AND by the way,i don´t know why kelly pavlik wants to fight him....what for??
im tired of that old,smartass trying to convince everybody about how great he is...i will never loose to a white boy....this time he might get KTFO BY A white boy.RETIRE PLEASE!!!

He can be knocked down, but I am not seeing it against Kelly.

What you will see is a schooling of epic proportion, enough to later convince that you made a mistake by underestimating Hopkins' skills at this point, and overestimating Pavlik's power.
