Did Bob Foster hit as hard as ...........

Would have answered a few questions.

The word also, Amos 'Big Train' Lincoln starched Bob in a 1968 sparring session,
eliminating Bob in a potential bout with Sonny Liston.

 

I could honestly buy the idea that Bob hit as hard as any of them.

Power on its own is not worth two buckets of ****.

 

I don't know if he was trying to seta trap or something... which would've been stupid against a guy like Frazier who follows his own rythm. Anyway, no matter what he was trying, it sure didn't work.

 

I'd say that Holyfield at his powerful at HW had more power. Otherwise I can't see anyone there I'd give a clear edge. Moore I haven't really seen much of, so can't say.

Tunney, Charles and Carpentier clearly didn't have Foster's power.

 

Perhaps, perhaps not. What we can say is that Foster was more devastating against the leading LHWs of his day.

 

Thing is, that Ali fought Patterson and Foster the same year, and I'd say that Foster effected Ali more with his punches. Patterson was old by then, but they say the punch is the last thing to go and Floyd's punches still looked very crisp in that fight.

 

Tbh, I think Foster hits as hard as Spinks. I personally put Satterfield and Durelle above him.

He hit as hard as any light heavy ever has imo .

 

Foster I believe absolutely hit harder than Moore, and Carpentier and probably Charles and Spinks. Tunney might be 50/50 leaning towards Bob. The rest were best known at heavyweight way above 200 pounds. Moorer and Foster at 175 would have been interesting as Moorer was still green at 175 as would a match between Tunney and Foster at around 185. I mean Harry Greb did beat Tunney and I'd have a hard time seeing Greb do they same to Foster at 175

 

He hits harder than all of them IMO. He had ridiculously powerful punches and his left hook was something you'd see once in a while.

 

What else has Deontay Wilder got?

Deontay Wilder was still world level.

 

It is impossible to know, but I think he hit as hard for one shot as some fairly hard hitting HWs of his day, like prime Patterson.
Tunney? He was great & had some pop, but there is no indication that he had the same explosive power as either of these guys, or Dempey.
A bit like Holyfield-who I agree at his bulkiest likely hit a bit harder than Foster-some real power, but not on Tyson's level.

Who himself did not have the same concussive one shot power as the harest hitting HWs-for one shot, but was a better puncher than most all of them due to speed, accuracy & combinations.

Can we agree on these points?
