The only thing going for Tony Dosh PPV in a fight v Wilder is the CV analysis undertaken by @Mitch87 - unfortunately one punch and the CVs are on fire.
This. Let’s be real Frank Bruno would of matched, if not bettered Wilders record if he fought Deontay’s list of opponents. And I certainly don’t see big Frank being talked about as the biggest puncher in heavyweight history.
Just a pity someone doesnt get a hold of boxing and sort it out properly once snd for all. Usyk v the winner of fury v wilder Joshua v the loser of fury v wilder. The both winners meet the fight after. Chances are we wouldnt be spending years talking about who would win and actually find out who beats who.
I think AJ has demons, I'm not sure he has been the same since that Ruiz defeat, sure he beat Ruiz in a rematch but he has changed. And we will find out in a couple of days if Wilder has demons after his first defeat. Wilder may be even worse, we will find out and then maybe we get more answers. But AJ looks somewhat gunshy to me, he doesn't look like he has any faith in his chin, Usyk wobbled him a few times and in the final round was in the verge of stopping AJ. Also, Wilder was stopped on his feet and was raging he was stopped, the stoppage was coming regardless but Wilder looked willing to get knocked out but AJ took a knee, spat out his gumshield amd quit, I still believe he quit, he didn't want any more. I think AJ would struggle mentally against Wilder, I don't think he would cope with the threat of a puncher like Wilder. AJ didn't cope very well with a puncher like Usyk after he was clipped in the third round.. AJ is a superior technical boxer to Wilder but mentally I think AJ might be on his way to being done unless he changes back to what he was at the start of career and at this level that means risking his chin.
Joshua shouldn't have missed his opportunity to become undisputed then. Instead of fighting him he chose to go back and forth talking about international PPV splits for a year. Imagine how much Lynx an undisputed champ could have sold ?
Ruiz 2 for example. Wilder has never shown he can fight on back foot. In fact 1 time he had to, he looked awful and clueless.
Good point, what is this based on - when has Wilder ever fought well on the back foot? He’s only had to once and got destroyed.
I'd like to see this fight, it would be an interesting match up. Let's face it, Joshua hasn't demonstrated any power since September 2018, over 3 years ago, against a washed up Povetkin. Wilder is always a threat, as limited as he is, but the man has heart and never gives up, you can give him that. Joshua gave up against a fat middle weight and is a very limited boxer himself. He was windmilling almost as bad as Wilder in the Uzyk fight, and was as slow as Joe Joyce at times, but without Joe's fearlessness or chin. Yes, Uzyk is better than Wilder, but Joshua isn't getting any quicker, or better, despite him still 'learning on the job' at 32. I'd favour Wilder these days, with one of his bombs coming out of nowhere which Joshua would neither be able to see or use head movement to avoid. Maybe Joshua would have beat him 4-5 years ago, but not these days.
I just can't see a guy beating AJ who was: - Dropped by Scroniers, Nicholls and Fury. - Rocked by Molina - Rocked by Ortiz - Had his face busted up by Duhaupas - Lost multiple rounds to Spzilka, Washington and Ortiz. That's all with with fighting cherry picked soft opposition with his most and only notable win (if at all) Being Ortiz.
I always felt that AJ would hammer Wilder, on account that AJ does have some boxing skills, very good power and decent fundamentals compared to Wilder only having extremely good power. However, on recent showings, if Wilder isn’t shot / gun shy, you’d have to think eventually he catches AJ - does AJ have the beard to stand up to it? Not sure anymore.
I just can't see a guy beating Wilder who was: - Dropped by a retired Wlad and 4 times by an obese middleweight. - Rocked by Whyte - Rocked by an old Povetkin - Had his face busted up by Takam - Lost multiple rounds to Parker, Ruiz and retired Pulev. That's all with with fighting cherry picked soft opposition with his most and only notable win (if at all) Being a retired Klitschko.
