Wallin cannot be WBC Mandatory to Fury v Wilder winner, as if victorious he needs to rematch Whyte, so would not be able to meet the mandatory challenger obligations as he would be tied up. Whats everyone's thoughts on it ?
I don’t think he’d complain too much as he’d be due for two big purses. If you beat a man one time you’d be confident of repeating it and then getting the title shot after. Three big purses in a row. At the end of the day he signed the contract and is obviously confident in himself.
I think its a disgrace that governing bodies allow a fighter in this case Whyte, try and tie up mandatory claim win or lose. Wilder next in line, but if Fury wins, Wilder will be coming of a lose, so would miss out. Ruiz next on list.
Probably the best offer available, a big fight at the O2 in a winnable fight with more money, if he wins. Everything is skewed in rematchrooms favour as always, just like the Alvarez cartel. Recall rematches were illegal in America for awhile, thanks to Senator John McCain, but that didn’t last long, unfortunately.
I don't understand why Whyte is mandatory still anyway, since he was sparked out by a 41 year old man 2 fights ago.
Wallin won't beat Whyte though. He is severely overrated on here for some reason. I am waiting for the excuses after the fight once Whyte beats him, probably that Wallin didn't have a long camp. Wallin is a worse version of Joseph Parker, he has a similar style to Hughie Fury too. Yet Wallin is lauded on here, but Parker and Fury receive so much hate?
And let's not forget he could have fought for the other three belts if he could agree terms with Hearn and Joshua. The notion he's been denied for years is a nonsense.
A timeline of Whyte’s 4 years as ‘number 1 baby’: 2018: • turns down WBC final eliminator v Ortiz • turns down IBF final eliminator v Pulev 2019: • turns down WBC final eliminator v Breazeale • turns down fight against Joshua for IBF, WBA, WBO world titles • finally accepts a final eliminator against Rivas but it’s announced he failed a drugs test days before that was hidden from Rivas • goes missing for 6 months before it’s announced he’s ‘cleared to fight’ and fights Wach 2 days later 2020: • Subsequently moves his whole training camp to Portugal in the middle of a pandemic after being in awful shape v Wach in his first fight post-failed drugs test. • knocked out by Povetkin but has a rematch clause. Poor Dillian. Done everything he can to get a world title shot.
Damn... Great post. Seems like he's playing the hard done by card, whilst simultaneously earning bank until he gets another massive payday. Correct?
So if Wallin was to beat Whyte, then the Fury-Wilder winner would have to wait around until the conclusion of a Wallin-Whyte rematch?
