But then rest, he's at the age where retirement is a real consideration but I don't think he will retire. He can still make money and fights with Ruiz Jr as a return would make sense, I think he can KO Ruiz Jr unlike AJ and that could help build a fight with AJ.

The winner of Whyte/Wallin is also an option for a quick path back to a title shot. Whyte might just be brave enough to take it even as mandatory as both have a long standing feud.

 

Two sustained beatings in a row, nearly 36 and only just accepting of the fact he needed to evolve his skills, and I suspect a sense of defeat he will struggle to shake off, I'm not sure where he goes from here. Heart and a right hand can only take you so far and, to be fair, he's done pretty well with that limited skill set.

But let's not buy into any revisionism here. Yeah, he found a home for some body work and his jab was more effective this time than the first two fights but he still got beat up, broken down and softened up for his next opponent should there be one.

Wilder's deluded. His fans are deluded. Reality will not rest easily with a person of that mentality. Fury hit him hard but reality will hit him harder.

We'll see but like with Kelly Pavlik, Felix Trinidad or Jeff Lacy, I don't think Wilder will ever be the same
