I am not sure about that. I don't think Wilder has ever connected square on the jaw. Last night his best shot was plum on his forehead. I reckon Wilder could KO Fury with one punch if he were to connect flush on the chin - especially if it's a bit later in the contest after an accumulation of punches over the course of the bout. But we will never know.
It's not his trainers that were stupid, it's him. He has no willingness to learn. Look at him here. The second fight should have taught him that he should remain light and lean and not bulk up too much. So what does he do? He bulks up even more, and his tank was running down from the second round onwards. He's enamoured with his power and thinks that power will always save him. He never even thinks to develop a strategy in case the power shots don't come, or they do come but the other guy won't stay down, in the case of Fury
Wilder might have brain damage after 3 fights. So let's see him get seriously handicapped trying to stop Fury.
If Fury stood right there and just let him hit him yeah he could probably lay him out but that's never going to happen, he's often rolling or moving away from punches that connect. I'm not sure Wilder could ever land a better shot or 2 shots that hit Fury in rd 12 of the first fight and Fury walking into the right hand that got him in this fight on the forehead. In a real fight situation I just don't see Wilder landing any cleaner.
I am one of the people who believed that the punches landed in the 12th round of the first bout are totally overrated. They are nowhere near the hardest punches Wilder has thrown and he has hit Fury with harder punches that he has not gone down from. When you look at the punches on the replay, they look so soft. Fury does not just stand there like a Breazeale, that's right. Wilder would probably need to get lucky with one of those wild swings.
Wilders biggest mistake was bulking up from 211 lbs to 231 - 238 lbs. When he is at 211 lbs, it allows him to be faster, more Mobile, a bigger gas tank and to carry his power late in fights
Definitely possible. I've heard rumors that he's very hard headed and difficult to work with. The guy believed his own hype and neglected basic fundamentals over and over. Very courageous but he deserves the L for not making any adjustments other than body shots and gaining weight.
And? Fury dropped him five times, took him to slick school, beat the soul out of his body twice, and baptized him twice all in his backyard and the only reason he didn't baptize him and beat the soul out of his body in all three fights in the trilogy is because his inactive drug-ravaged muscle atrophied ghost showed up in the fight fight.
