Did you see the Stevern rematch? He was really out of shape. He didn't even train. When he was in shape he was KOed by Demetris King, but Wilder couldn't do it. Wilder has power in his right hand, but he is not a great puncher. He never KOed a top iron chin opponent in his career. Mostly C level fighters with mediocre chins.
You can mate. He has made a career out of fighting C level opponents, no decent names on there. Some with F all desire, and one opponent as we know took a dive, that person is now his trainer. Just one big circus show that people have gobbled up as legit. His level of opponent haven’t got a winning mentality and when they do he has life an death or loses
He might well be the hardest punching heavyweight in history, he is clearly the hardest punching heavyweight of his era, comparing between eras is impossible to quantify anyway.
He's going to be remembered as one of the hardest punching HWs in boxing history. Nothing that gets written on this forum will change that.
If he retires right now, yeah. If he actually has to start fighting top level opponents it's going to put his punch power into serious question
Wlad barely hit Fury, and when he did it was in the later rounds when his energy was spent. Wlad was too cautious. Wilder, ironically, was too dumb to be afraid of Fury which is why he absolutely went for him. In any case, of those four knockdowns, one was from Fury daring Wilder to hit him, one was from Fury taking his eye off the ball, one was a blatant foul and the final one was the only real display of technique...and Fury still got up
I said this two years ago. I still think Wilder is a tier 3 puncher. Very hard hitter but just short of the historical mountaintop.
fury is undefeated and wilder has laid him out in each of their fights. whatever you think of Aj and the rest of the crew at HW, wilder hits like a truck .
I've long thought Mighty Mo was one of the hardest punchers I've ever witnessed in any fight sport. Semmy Schilt's jab was also ridiculous. Would literally knock iron-chinned fighters unconscious. Mo sucked as a boxer though, and Schilt wasn't much better in MMA. It kind of illustrates the point though that power isn't everything, and the big hitters we see at the top of the sport right now probably aren't the hardest punchers in an objective sense but those with the right combination of skills and athletic traits to make power their most dominant attribute. Wilder definitely is a huge hitter, but hardest hitter in history is a bit of a hyperbolic accolade that no one can really lay absolute claim to. He certainly is well in the debate though, as is anyone with that type of eraser that can drop or seriously hurt almost anyone they've been in the ring with at almost any point in the fight. David Tua is another one who springs to mind in that category, then at lower weights, Randall Bailey, Ezra Sellers, Julian Jackson etc.
What I’m saying is Wilder does NOT have the explosive knock power that “erases” anyone He’s a hard puncher but he’s not “the hardest in history” like this clown claims, and after all, Wilders résumé is extremely weak of KOed opponents I EASILY put Lewis, Tyson, Wladimir, well above Wilder as far as knock out power Partially due to the quality of opponents they knocked out, and the “ lack of quality” people Wilder has knocked out Fury has taken it, gotten up, and beat him….. twice. So apparently can’t erase quite everyone. LOL Vladimir, Lewis, Tyson, there another level entirely and wilder, as far as punching power, and knocking out quality opponents
And couldn't put him away. It's also not the accomplishment people think it is to lay out Fury. Steve Cunningham did it, Neven Pajkic did it. The real challenge is keeping him down
Washington, too, finished on his feet. I also believe the Harrison and Liakovich were dives, Harrison because he screamed before he was hit as if shocked that Wilder was really going to hit him, and Liakocich because of the theatrical twitching.
