Baby steps. The statement isn't perfect, (a retraction of previous allegations would've helped), but it's a start. It reads like he had input, though no doubt it was specifically worded and sequenced by an assistant. And I'm assuming the "WE" in "WE proved that no matter how hard you get hit with trials and tribulations you can always pick yourself up to live and fight again" refers to he and Fury. My main interest in this is that he gets himself psychologically shored up for an exciting showdown with Joshua down the line. That, and society doesn't need Wilder to go any deeper down that rabbit hole he was mining; I'd prefer not to hear reports of Deontay being institutionalized after waving firearms around and babbling paranoiacally at people on the street in five years' time, which would be to nobody's benefit.
I don't like the man and this statement was pretty weak, but until he comes out and apologises for all that bull**** he came out with it's all pretty empty. The guy has a lot of making up to do in the eyes of boxing people and a PR managed statement on social media won't be enough. It's a baby step and I hope for Wilders sake he doesn't go any further down the rabbit hole he was going.
Not written by Wilder for sure. 100% percent. Wilder is still sleeping with his teddy in the hospital nursing his dented head. #tothisday. Video apology or it didnt happen you, tascalooser.
It obviously wasn't written by him. But it's still a good gesture from whoever did write it, and it indicates that people around Wilder might be trying to talk some sense into him and care about his own long-term peace of mind, as well as his image. I just hope whoever it is ... his wife, people around him in his hometown, old friends, family, advisers, assistants, whoever - manage to get Wilder on the right path and stay there, and keep him away from the internet conspiracy freaks who have enabled and promoted the insanity since the 2nd fight.
It's an insincere token gesture and obviously done at the behest of Shirley Winkle aka Grandpa from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre but at least it's a small step in the right direction. What that dosser really needs to do here is release a video of him congratulating Fury for the three baptisms he performed on him free of charge in his own church in front of his congregation and apologize profusely for all the malicious accusations he leveled at him, members of Fury's team, his own trainer and the many other members of the boxing fraternity whose names he dragged through the mud. He also needs to apologize profusely to his surrogate mother the delightful Paris Fury for all the death threats he issued towards her husband/his surrogate father and his five gypsy siblings too. It only took him a few days to put out that unintentionally hilarious ''I am a King, I am Strong, I will Rise Again'' video so there's literally nothing stopping him from putting another one out now.
Right…but he is a cheater, make no mistake about that, a convicted, punished, legitimate cheater. Respectfully.
Really! Clowns making a big deal over a boxer disrespecting another boxer? Get over yourselves. You Fury fans have been disrespecting Wilder ever since the first Fury fight was penned. Now you have the nerve to act like you have some moral high ground? I strongly suggest you lot STFU and move on. Hypocrites!
Better than not saying much at all. He acknowledged defeat twice now and congratulated Fury, that's more than enough.
