Tyson Fury could barely land a glove on Wladimir Klitschko? Where exactly was the masterclass?

    Impressive win? Yes
    Impressive fight? No
    Masterclass? Hell no!

In comparison, Jennings in the fight before Fury landed more and harder shots on Wlad over 12 rounds.
It was a masterclass in the "don't hit, and don't get hit" category. Borefest and one of the worst titlefights in HW history.

It's a pity that we didn't get to see the rematch, in Manchester, with Wlad stripped of the K2 hometown privileges that @Drago outlined so well in the linked earlier post. Wlad's performance against AJ suggested that he'd rediscovered his hunger and he remained a potent force. If that fight had happened and Fury had beaten the man twice, then he may have had the recognition he deserved a little earlier.

Or it could've been another borefest!

I still think Fury would have lost the rematch. Wlad was favored for the rematch for a good reason, and full VADA testing would have been implemated if Fury had been allowed to box.
The weird thing is that if the UK's anti-doping had been on the level, the fight would have never taken place to begin with, Hammer would have his loss erased from the record, and Fury had probably gone down in history as just another dope cheat who couldn't cut it.

The back pages of Private Eye had some interesting snippets back then on the interaction between UK Anti Doping and the Treasury.

A bizarre event and in all my years of watching boxing I've never seen a fight quite like it. Neither guy gets any credit from me, it was a pathetic still affair with both guys afraid to commit or pull the trigger.
Fury gets overhyped based on this win, but would have erased all doubt had he taken the rematch and not feigned mental health issues to sweep failed PED tests under the rug and avoid a rematch. For all his talents he and Wilder have some of the weakest resumes of any champion in living memory. Once Fury defends his belt against Usyk, Whyte and Joshua I'll start buying into the hype, until then it's hard to judge based off of a very strange win against Wlad and the fights against the a guy who had literally the worst resume of any heavyweight champ in history.

Fury did enough to win. Wlad should have let his hands go but he didnt. Either he couldnt or he didnt want to because he was concerned of opening up himself?

Fury just did what he should to win it on points.

I blame Wlad for not even trying. Against Joshua it was The same again when he had him hurt. He didnt go for it... You must blame Wlad for that too..

A gunshy man with legendary KO power in both hands... Such a shame really.

Terribly dull fight, in which Fury barely landed any punches. I don't ever wish to watch the fight again, but no matter how few Fury landed, Klitschko landed far fewer.

It was a comfortable victory for Fury - but due to the complete lack of action in the fight, I thought he'd get diddled by the judges.

forget who it was recently, but a fighter lost. his heart was not in the fight due to family health reasons. people here gave him a pass. that night, wlad was not in the fight mentally or emotionally due to his then wife's difficulties in her pregnancy. the same people here who gave the fighter a pass do not give wlad the same respect. i believe that it is just hate for him, i guess. plus, he WAS 40 years old.
as stated earlier, yes, in his fight against aj, he roused himself to be a formidable opponent. and do not forget, fury DID DUCK the rematch.

    1) Klitschko land is Ukraine and specifically Kiev, not Germany. The fact that you even claim it is, if anything, actually proves the Klitschkos are international stars and their empire has no bounds to begin with. Can Fury do the same and be such a star in a foregin land? Don't think so!

And spare me the 'fouling' crap. Name me one heavyweight champ who never cheated? Lennox Lewis was as much of a fouler as Wlad with his own excessive clinching (against shot Mike Tyson) and with his holding and hitting. Mike Tyson used to elbow his opponents on the clinch and used to bite their ears off. Holyfield used to headbutt his opponents to oblivion. Fury regularly leans on his smaller opponents (Cunningham and Wallin) and hits them whilst holding them, which is totally illegal and even dangerous. Joshua does the exact same thing, which is how he even dropped Andy Ruiz Jr and dropped Wladimir Klitschko for the last time in their bout. Deontay Wilder throws wild rabbit punches behind the ears and with his wrist, forearm and other parts of his body other than the fists which is also illegal.

So if we want to be objective, we need to hold everyone to the same standard and not just single out whoever we want. But I suspect you have a specific agenda against the Klitschko brothers, which is why you singled THEM OUT ALONE. Just be honest and stop with the dishonesty if you want to be taken seriously.

The only true clean heavyweights are Usyk and Alexander Povetkin and maybe Vitali Klitschko. But even Povetkin got destroyed with the fake PED allegations against him, when he is arguably the cleanest heavyweight champion of all time, in and out of the ring.

    2) Outpointing a 39 year old shot all-time great heavyweight is supposed to be impressive, when every other past heavyweight great champion was not only getting outpointed, but also absolutely destroyed and stopped in the process whilst simultaneously getting outpointed? LMFAO! The standards are absolutely sickeningly appalling for the fraud that is Tyson Fury. Only Tyson Fury failed to stop his shot ancient past heavyweight great champion. You look at Muhammad Ali and he was outpointed + stopped by Larry Holmes. You look at Larry Holmes and he was outpointed + KTFO by Mike Tyson. You look at Mike Tyson and he was outpointed + stopped by the likes of Kevin McBride of all people LMFAO. You look at Evander Holyfield and he was outpointed + stopped by blown-up middleweight in James Toney. Only Tyson Fury failed to stop his 39+ year old shot past great heavyweight champion. In fact, Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko by the worst margin than other past prime heavyweights who beat their own 39+ year old past great heavyweight champion opponent. So the standards here for Wladimir Klitschko are astronomically higher than of any other past great heavyweight champion, whilst the standard here for Fury is the lowest. That's basically what it is!

And despite the amazing 'out-boxing' you speak, I challenge you to find me even 10 body / head rocking / snapping punches from Fury from the entire 12 rounds? I know you'd struggle, if not outright fail. So this fight could have absolutely been seen as a draw. The rounds you think Fury won, show me those clean and effective punches that JUSTIFIABLY proves Fury won those rounds or just call it for what it is, a draw in which neither fighter did anything they are supposed to do in a boxing match, which is to actually land punches.

Or maybe his timing was just shot to pieces for being 40 years old? And it's not like Fury was landing punch after punch after punch on Wlad. I challenge anybody to show me even 10 head or body rocking / snapping punches from Fury.

It wasn't a one for casual fans, but boxing fans will appreciate it.

Fury outmatched wlad skillwise and physically.

To be the number 1 heavyweight, you need to clean up your division at least once, if not keep it cleaned for a decade like the Klitschkos did. As Fury has not done such a thing, he can't be called number 1. How do we know he's number one and better than some of the other contenders who are also unbeaten if he hasn't beaten them yet such as Joe Joyce for example? We don't, therefore, Fury nor anybody else for that matter right now is the number 1 guy in the heavyweight division.

So your position currently is that there is NO number one heavyweight?

That's fine. On yourself. It's also highly unusual and not really a position i'm interested in exploring.

That's what he 'CLAIMED' (CLAIMED being the keyword here). How do we know that's the truth and not just a lie. What? He says so therefore it's 100% gospel? For all we know, that might be his own way of wiggling out of a fight against Wladimir Klitschko by using it as a convincing justification. Just pull out the 'I am depressed and suicidal' card so he can escape any bout that he feels uncomfortable about. LMFAO.

Fact is, a rematch was in the contract and he did not follow through with his contractual obligation. Therefore, it's a duck for all intent and purposes regardless of what excuse is used to justify him not following the contract HE AGREED on. The contract doesn't state "One is excused of not fighting the rematch if they are depressed or for any other reason". By definition, it is ABSOLUTELY a duck and there is no other way around it. Anything other than claiming it is a duck, is a means to absolve responsibility away from another grown adult man as a fanboy/fangirl/fanatic.

Fury doesn't just get a pass because he claims this and that about his health. Fury is not the first, nor the last boxer to have mental health issues. Heck, there are many boxers who have had just as bad, if not worse mental health issues than Fury but don't go around publicizing it. Doesn't mean they are suffering any less. Just because Fury vocalizes more it doesn't mean his problems are any more special. Wladimir Klitschko himself also had his own problems when his wife was feeling suicidal and still took the fight against Fury, despite not being mentally prepared 100%. So why are going to give Fury a pass here? EXACTLY!
