Before I start, I am mutual, not on anyone's side here, just an observation. Tyson fury Vs Wilder 1 + 3 had wilder knockdown fury in rounds 9+12 in first fight, 4th in the second. Both instances, fury seemed to be dominating the fight, then "out of nowhere" he gets knocked down. For me personally, I think Fury took the drop to make the fights more memorable. 1st fight he was dominating so much that it makes sense to go down and make a rematch more marketable. Same with the 3rd fight, knocked down in the 4th, all of a sudden puts on a boxing clinic from then on, wilder looking lost of answers. So my question is, did fury go down in the 1st and 3rd fight so as to make these fights more interesting on paper and make him look like a 'warrior' rather than a one sided snooze fest.
No. And it's frankly ridiculous to even think it. Finding it too easy, switching off a bit for a moment and getting caught? This isn't completely out of character for Fury - he's fought badly in patches against overmatched opponents before. You don't risk letting a hard puncher hit you for optics, that's a good way to take permanent damage. You don't take dives for drama, that's a great way to get robbed or even waved off.
Yeh, because people love to get caught flush by ko artists just for entertainment.. Oh, hang on.... Wow, just wow...
Yeah, the first fight was great acting, he really did his Ricky Hatton KO impersonation v Packman really well. Luckily he knew the ref was an ex firefighter/ambulance/all types of trauma experience and the ref knew he was still alive. Otherwise his acting was so good that basically ANY other ref would have not even bothered to give him a count.
The only one was the last knockdown in the third fight. I think he was still a bit unsteady but knew there was only 15 seconds left of the round so was happy to waste a bit of time and see out the round.
