Usyk is the best CW ever likely, and Toney was not at his best at that weight

He really acts as if that victory over Holyfield meant something. Holyfield was shot and got easily outboxed by the average Larry Donald his next fight. Also claimed Vitali Klitschko ducked James Toney when Klitschko is all wrong for Toney.

 

If your care to actually read the thread, you will notice that I was referring to Toney vs Usky at cruiserweight. So you whole point is meaningless.

Anyway, ss regards Vitali, who faced every bum in the book except Toney, you seem to forget that a skickster like Byrd beat his ass. Besides, I never claimed Toney would beat Vitali. I just said he would make him look bad and lose a competitive decision based on styles.

 

Actually Toney beat Regge Johnson. It was not a controversial decision at the time. Even then, I would not compare how a 160 pounds Reggie and the 200 pound Usyk move

Vitali torn his shoulder out and quit while winning the fight. Also Toney lost to Sam Peter twice who Vitali stopped.

 

It was a split decision and Johnson dropped Toney also.

 

Great fight but I see Usyk's superior footwork and workrate beating Toney convincingly with no controversy.

I was there and that decision was roundly booed. You can see Patricia Jarman slam her hands on her table when Reggie dropped him. She gave Toney 8 of the final 10 rounds. The closest Toney got in the scoring was losing by three points at the very most. Toney also lost by a mile to Dave Tiberi.

 

In the media at the time it was not reported as a controversial. also the broadcasting had Toney winning.I had Toney ahead by about 3 points.Remember this fight just happened just a few weeks after the Nunn fight

 

Vitali hurt his shoulder and was still winning against Byrd also he was scheduled to fight Razor Ruddock who's style was totally different from Byrd.
