And it's reliable 99% of the time unlike streaming with buffering etc.

I posted the below on another thread a few weeks ago, but it fits perfectly so I'm pasting it again.

It's a generational thing imho. Anyone who has grown up with Sky is used to long term contracts and has seen the prices creep up slowly over the years. It's become normal.

For a new entrant it's horrendously priced. I'd been internet only forever, but went for a cable package last year for the first time. Introductory 18 month package with Virgin Media with the full works TV package, cable, landline, SIM etc - currently £89 a month, but will be £150 a month once that's over. That's £1800 a year, plus TV licence - looking at £2k a year for the telly. Zero chance I'm doing that.

I expect to go back to internet only once it's up, and use Netflix, DAZN and Now TV for the events I fancy, plus whatever Box Office events I'd be paying Virgin extra for anyway.

For anyone under 30, they're either doing this already or, more likely, streaming it.

Thats my point ! I ordered every Sky Box Office event since Tyson vs Bruno II (March 16th 1996) and is been working perfect EVERY time. Fantastic ! The first boxing event I was watching on DAZN in December 2020 (Billy Joe Saunders) the picture stood still 30-40 seconds every hour.

Is the problem they banged it on a Saturday night? The card reminded me of the old Friday Night fight nights ( Toney okey and the like). It’s going to take time to build a new known roster now Eddie has jumped.

Not sure what Hennersey deal with five is but do they need a number of promoters doing Uk, Europe level fights and build a sky stable?

Match room on DAZN has been wank so far but if they do get Bt what does that mean for Frank?

Sky with Hennersey, Warren, Boxxer/Wasserman andTop Rank in us is a decent offering.

I watched Canelo Saunders on DAZN on my iPad and I got the notification Canelo had won before it happened on my screen.

Mick I doubt would see much value in moving from a platform where he is the sole promoter with decent stability to a platform where he isn’t the sole promoter and would have less stability. Mick has been with Channel 5 for ten years now give or take, likes having his fighters on free to air television (his fights were screened on the BBC/ITV before Channel 5) and probably is winding down as a promoter. Clearly if Sky chuck money at him he may move but I don’t see it.

If DAZN buys BT then I can’t see Matchroom and Queensbury being on the same platform. Frank would likely move to Sky or ITV. Probellum hasn’t announced a TV deal yet either.

There is a lot of boxing taking place every weekend- I think Sky need to look at what they did well in the past (buying up the rights to big international fights as well as having a decent domestic schedule) and refine that for the modern market.

Boxing has become very stable/TV company oriented now much to the detriment of the viewing public.

I am under 30 and certainly since being in my new gaff I have been internet only, using Netflix, Amazon Prime and NowTV for what i want. However, I’m paying £40 for NowTV (Sports and Entertainment) and Sky Glass has entered the marketplace as an internet option including a telly in the price. If i can get a brand new telly for an extra £20 / £25 a month, I’m definitely going to switch over and can see others following suit.

Do you think there´s any chance Hennessy or Frank Warren getting a contract with Sky Sports ?

DAZN live pictures are between 40 secs and 120 secs behind the live action and it is basically a highlights subscription service.

It was awful. The marshall and eubank fights were done and dusted by half nine.
Dj was a pleb and then you had some rapper or youtube gimp backstage interviewing Peter fury for 10 seconds.

I'd have loved to hear Peter's thought on Boxxer off the record.

I enjoyed the nights boxing. I thought it was a good show. I like the way they put the main fights on earlier. I have lost count of the times I have gone to sleep and missed the main event, then watched it the next day.
