Wilder who you got ? They’ve sparred each other, hrgovic was only young but done very well from the clip on YouTube I’ve seen, wasnt concerned with wilders right hand in the slightest. Now wilders belt less and the trilogy done, this fight could happen. Does wilder duck him like Hunter or would he take this fight ?? Could he win after back to back beatings ? Thoughts
He has to fight someone before another shot, I think once he’s dusted himself off, he’ll be looking at getting back in there against a name, he can’t really cherrypick towards another shot can he. It’s going to be tougher than his title reign that’s for sure
Hrgovic. Wilder is spent at this point. He is getting old and in his last 2 fights he was out of gas after 3-4 rounds. His power is overrated as well. He can only throw heavy shots with right hand and everyone sees it coming. Makhmudov would crash him as well at this point.
Hrgovic is overrated as hell on this forum. And the people doing the overrating will conveniently forget that they did so after he gets found it. Good fighter but nothing special.
Why do you say that? He is the definition of what a young campion to be looks like. Covid set everyone back and for a guy with 13 fights he's meet quality of opposition and easily breezed through them is impressive. Where was Joshua and Fury after 13 fights? What doesn't he have? The big Fury fans are getting nervous, a reason to bash the next best thing.
Wilder. And that's as a consistent detractor of Deontay's. Wilder's massively overrated and has a poor resume for a guy that held a belt so long... But even Wilder has a better resume than Hrgovic, and not even by just a little. Hrgovic is still on the up, but bellcurves suggest that the further you go up the levels of competition the less likely you are to continue beating the next level of competition - most fighters are hyped to a greater or lesser extent until they lose, the ones that actually make it to the top are the exception and not the rule. I don't think it'd be necessarily be an easy fight, and there's a good chance Wilder's self-insisted battering will have diminished him too. Even if I favour Wilder if he were forced into the ring to fight Hrgovic, I don't believe he'd take it as his next fight either.... It makes little sense because the credit for winning is limited, the reputational damage for losing is too high and the payday ain't gonna be anything special - he'll either go back to safe journeymen with questionable chins, or he'll cash out and risk taking another beating off AJ or Whyte.
Is it? Consider Joyce, who also has 13 fights (and as an aside is also pretty damn overrated on here) - Joyce's level of competition is much higher, his best wins are against better fighters, too. He's a future hopeful, predicting someone to be a future champion when their best win is Molina is a huge leap of faith.
Joyce is old and has no time to waste. I'm comparing the competition to Fury and Joshua. Or Wilder! Who did they fight in their first 13 fights? And they didn't have deal with a covid shut down. It's too bad Hunter jr dropped out. Usyk got going early but he's old too.
He was not overrated by us in 2018, but he's not improved since and has likely declined the past three years due to inactivity and weak opposition. Too bad he didn't have a better promoter than Sauerland.
I think Hrgovic is overrated by some, he's seemingly regressed in recent fights due to lack of meaningful opposition. But having said that if he can find the form that had many of us touting him as the top prospect back in 2018 then I could see him beating Wilder. Wilder's been out boxed by worse boxers than Hrgovic and Hrgovic seems to have a good chin, I don't think he'll fold after a good right hand like so many others have and how much does Wilder have left, he's taken a beating in his last 2 fights and he'll be 36 by the time he has his next fight.
