I was at a strip club watching the 3rd fight and my view wasn't that great and I honestly thought Fury fell on purpose to make it more interesting. Only when I got back home and watched it did I notice that seemed like a bomb from Deontay detonated off Fury's skull.
It was incredible he got up from the KD in the 12th. No fighter gets dropped just to make a fight more interesting.
Yes I do believe this happened. I also believe Usyk was marking up under his eyes vs AJ purposely to lull AJ into thinking his approach in fight 1 had some success.
So fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship you "think Fury took the drop to make the fights more memorable", seriously? If you truly think that, then my "unbiased opinion" is stop thinking. Damn i have read some foolhardy statements on this forum but his has to vying for top of the list.
I don't think it is that unreasonable TBH. Fury knows how to sell a fight and getting dropped certainly makes the fight more interesting.
This was for the World Heavyweight Championship. You sell a fight prior to bout, once in the bout you have one purpose to win, getting put to the canvas at best impacts on the score for that round, 270+ pound of fighter uses lot of energy to climb off canvas, so best avoid being decked if you can avoid it.
I get that and I understand that it takes a massive amount of energy (especially at 270+) to get up, but the way Fury dominated Wilder in the rematch made me skeptical of Fury having a tough fight the third time around since it seemed like he figured Deontay out. If he made this fight more compelling that only benefits him whoever he fights next.
Yes, that’s a very astute observation. Fury took a direct right hand from Deontay Flipping Wilder straight to his face, sending shock waves through his entire body, on purpose to make it more “interesting”. Lmao
I am pretty unbiased to be honest, I think plenty here are we're all fans of the sport. Fury as somebody else has said for his size at his best at has real natural gifts at boxing and fighting on the inside. Weirdly we still have not seen a full fight with him at his absolute best, against wlad we saw elements, of how well he can box and move, wilder for 9 rounds in the first fight was a masterclass of boxing and moving. Weirdly tom Schwartz was an outstanding performance too.He can be inconsistent while being good and I will elaborate on that. He can look dominant in a fight and then switch off and you can catch him. He has been down in a lot in fights he has ended up winning and has been close to losing at least a few ights outside the first McDermott fight. Cunningham was a huge knockdown, the wilder knockdowns in 1 and 4 were heavy. He has powers of recovery I have rarely ever seen in this sport for a man that big to win those fights. He will go down as one of the great heavyweights considering what he has come back from and what he has achieved. But he is not unbeatable, I see him losing once or twice if he carries on., Simply because if he stays near 20 stone a heavyweight will catch him and follow up with a finish at some point. Wilder is an incredible enigma, he has such natural athletic ability, he is a beanpole for a man 6 foot 7, his natural weight is 225, he has been able to use a one-punch knockout power we have ever seen in the history of the sport to knock out heavyweights naturally bigger than him. He doesn't lack heart he has proved that in the fury fights getting outboxed and outmanned by fury. However, his boxing ability is miles short of his punching power, fury outboxed him clearly for most of the three fights, ortiz won every round before the knockdown in the second fight. I won't forget when Lennox lewis in a car park was having to show Wilder, how to form a jab properly, this was when wilder was well into his pro winning streak and that's red flag territory. I think he could carry on in the sport and win some big fights, but I always advise fighters who get a beating and their millions to retire and enjoy it.
No, of course not But it crossed my mind rewatching the third fight that he chose to take one of the two counts rather than risk getting ko'd while stunned
