Lyle would just be another guy who people insult after Wilder destroys him.

"Lyle got stabbed in prison and died. Wilder literally fought a dead guy. Can you believe Beyonce fought a dead guy? I can. He sucks. He beat an Old Cuban with High Blood Pressure and a Dead guy!"

You guys know the drill. Most of you participate in it.

What makes Lyle an inferior fighter to Bruno or Rudduck in your mind? Honestly curious because I don't see how you can back that up with anything tangible

Still mad after Wilder losing another fight against Fury?

Tell me who exactly was on Lyle level that Wilder fought and beat. Ortiz never faced any good competition outside of Wilder.

Depends whether you think modern training gives heavyweights a significant advantage over what they were in the 70s.

If not, then Lyle demonstrated that he could fight brutal, protracted wars with extremely hard punchers. Lyle is overrated, but fighting these kinds of fights against guys like Wilder was something he showed himself good at.

Ron Lyle, he took some fearsome bombs from a peak George Foreman and Earnie Shavers, even though he was stopped by George on Jan 24 1976.

    Wilder by early kayo.

I think Lyle is pretty overrated and owes his reputation to being around in the 1970s

I'd pick Lyle. Wilder is too easy to hit and Fury losing to three time to Wilder and all the knockdowns does not compare with hurting and knocking down Foreman. Lyle KO in 4. He hits hard.

I’m not sure Wilder could take Lyle’s punch. He’s just been drubbed twice to an inch of his life twice in a row from a guy he dubbed pillow fists.

At same time Lyle is slow footed and Wilder’s range could catch him closing the gap.

51/49 fight in favor of Lyle.

Exactly what level was Ron Lyle?

Post some of his wins. I posted two - against Scott Ledoux (who Duane Bobick knocked out twice, who was 25-6-3 and who floored Lyle) and Stan Ward (who was 8-0-2).

Let's see all these crushing Lyle wins.

What "fantastic" level do youi imagine Ron "Freaking" Lyle on? He knocked out 60 percent of his opponents. He didn't stop extremely ordinary guys Leroy Caldwell, Manuel Ramos, Bob Stallings, Lou Bailey, Wendell Newton,Scott Ledoux (he floored Lyle), Stan Ward, Lynn Ball (he KOed Lyle), etc.

Wilder didn't stop the 6'9" 280-pound undefeated World Champ.

How many 6'7 Heavyweight Champions with 10 successful title defenses and who reigned for five years did Ron Lyle beat again?

At Lyle's very best, he was barely top five. And he was only there briefly. Wilder's been in the Ring top 10 every week for EIGHT STRAIGHT YEARS. He's been rated no lower than #3 by Ring Magazine every week for the last six years.

"Stationary head" Ron Lyle would get annihilated. And you'd be among the first clowns to make fun of Lyle after Wilder blasted him out.
