He’s obviously been shopping around for a new trainer since losing to Usyk. I just so happen to see him in Houston today and it appears he’s in discussion with Ronnie Shields to become his head trainer. If I was him I would look for the closest to Emanuel Steward in Sugar Hill but it’s obvious why that can’t happen.
The bodybuilder needs Teofimo Lopez Sr. It's his only chance Lopez sr has that hatred, arrogance, and dog in him that can rub off on Joshua and the bodybuilder needs that attitude to drag Usyk in the trenches. Lopez Sr knows how to deal with angular Ukrainian fighters. Ronnie Shields simply cannot get it done. He has two dimwitted low iq fighters in the charlo brothers. They've never seen anything like Usyk.
Well it might be a good move AJ does need that lions only mentality which he did have in the Klitchko fight.
It could be a good mental thing as well who knows we know Lopez Snr would be bragging about beating Usyk's best mate Loma but I doubt anything can rattle Usyk I actually see him as unbreakable mentally, obviously most elite guys are mentally strong but even Loma was starting to get pissed off with Lopez in the lead up to the fight but with Usyk I don't see him ever really losing his cool.
Yup, the Charlos are really dumb fighters. Their style is sitting on the ropes and waiting for counters.
The only trainer and I mean the only trainer that gets AJ anywhere near an Usyk win, is sweet Jesus. Last I heard, he doesn't condone violence. So, it doesn't matter what trainer is in his corner. AJ will take the L.
Its never a good sign when a fighter goes coach shopping, in the majority of cases I've seen the fighter ends up looking worse than before. Stick with what works. Should have stayed with mccracken and just cooked up a different game plan. Remember all that hype ruiz got training with reynoso only to barely beat a washed up arreola?
He's the "come in for one camp with an established fighter" expert. Chisora has been thriving with him and (hilariously) did much better than AJ against Usyk. It doesn't seem like he has the answer though, not sure there is an answer if AJ insists on having the rematch in March. He needs at least a year and a tuneup fight to really make a change.
Usyk doesn't box like Loma if we look in depth. Usyk will not listen and read bragging and trash talk like Loma did. He mentally is different than Loma. And how coach change might deal with reality: A.J is quickly getting tired when he attempts to KO someone. Pulev fight: A.J looked good, Pulev almost done, then surprise: A.J tired after 3 rounds boxed vs Pulev? A.J btw is not bad boxer and very powerful, both hands are good and he might box for cards too. Vs Pulev he simply looked tired after 3 rd round. Otherwise Pulev didn't had lasted till 6 th round.
