I saw the highlights of this fight (the ending) but never the whole fight until now. I couldn't believe what I was watching. The shots that other boxers try to avoid the whole match, he was taking from the first round to the 11th.

The same punches which knocked out fighters like Brezeale and Ortiz cold, and knocked down Fury several times during their trilogy.

How was this guy taking such a beating? Even at the end, he was still on his feet, not knocked out cold.

Perhaps the answer is in Fury Wilder 3 - If Wilder can't take you out early for whatever reason then the sting is drawn from his punching power. It stands to reason as it must be exhausting throwing bombs round after round.

He also seemed to have an iron chin prior to the Wilder fight, perhaps that fight ruined him.

That was the first time buddy was stopped. I'd love for wilder to improve the left hand: his jab is decent, left hook can put finishing touches added together with the right hand, he dropped fury with that left hook (following a right hand cross) he also improved his jab to the body. But I swear duhaupus must be from a place where women give birth to men a la Ricardo Mayorga would say. Dude had an iron chin, not even kd.

Wilder is overrated that is why. Molina, Duhaupas we’re both fights that we’re supposed to showcase Wilder and he struggled both times.

Wilders reputation as a power puncher is based on cherry-picking opponents, to make him look good.
Because power is the only selling point he had, since he boxes like he's fighting in Stiletto's.

Fury has been knocked down before from non punchers, due to his tendency to switch off.
Ortiz is rumored to be 10 years older than he says, so almost 50, has a heart condition, and also has a padded record.

Brezeale is the only impressive ko he has in my opinion , proves that his right hand does have good power and isnt all hype, but still isnt the amazing weapon that the people like Joe Rogan make it out to be.

Wilder clearly punches hard but he isn't a good finisher, so if he can't one shot finish you or have you out on your feet guys like Molina and Duhaupas can survive being hurt.

Molina said after fighing both, it was impossible to see AJ's punches coming, he didn't know which punch was coming and so couldn't defend himself. This is because AJ doesn't telegraph his punches as badly as Wilder. Molina even when hurt was able to see Wilder's big, wild punches coming and survive even after being dropped.

The Breazeale fight flattered his power too. AJ took several rounds to stop Breazeale and so people over inflated his durability forgetting he'd been hurt and dropped by lesser fighters like Mansour and Ugonoh. Breazeale has a good chin but not a great one.

Wilder's best KO's are Szpilka, Ortiz, Stiverne 2 and Breazeale. Not exactly a great list of durable guys, Breazeale's the only guy with a proven solid chin.

In an all time sense, Wilder's power is overrated. He punches hard and explosively, sure, but he doesn't have a KO over a true top tier opponent or a string of KOs over top contenders. Wilder simply isn't a top tier fighter, or if he was he never wanted to prove it. Nothing in his resume proves so either. Old man Ortiz is the closest he got, and the contextual factors surrounding that fight do not flatter Wilder's resume. Fury is the top man of the division by the virtue of beating Klitschko, the lineal champion and then current dominant H2H fighter. The Wilder wins prove nothing other than Fury is top tier and Wilder isn't. Wilder also had a chance to prove himself top-tier against Joshua, a possibly winnable chance that he declined. Wilder is simply a glass cannon who maximised his match making opportunities.

Also, Wilder is a notorious rabbit puncher, which for some reason isn't mentioned much. A lot of his ability to hurt fighters actually comes from these clubbing shots behind the head, with Ortiz being the clearest example of it. 'Windmill' is a meme for a reason.

I've said it before, Wilder has hit some guys with flush rights and they haven't gone down. For example, Stiverne in the first match and Szpilka took some before that one that he didn't see. Tyson is not glass chinned or anything but it's not like others haven't taken flush rights and actually stayed up.

Wilder didn't look that convincing until Buffet II. Outboxed by cherry picks until he got out of jail with the right hand.
