Like him but getting tired of the "content-first" strategy. Is it boxing or Geordie shore? I wanna see fights getting made not behind the scenes of Jonny fishers fat dad eating Chinese food
Eddie is an entertaining charachter. Sometimes he's funny, to laugh with and to laugh at. Other times he's annoying and there's times he's downright hypocritical in a sinister fashion. The sport is better with him around I think and I'm neither an admirer nor a hater, although I do enjoy when he makes himself look silly
I pity him at the moment. He needs to sort out what exactly is the strategy with DAZN etc and then do all of the jokey interviews once that’s sorted.
Dunno. I kind of admire how he fronts things up and doesn't hide, even if he talks bollocks, contradicts himself routinely and openly juggles his "best pals with everyone" act with being a ruthless businessman. As his old man once said, "I'm a promoter, I don't tell the truth all the time".
Have you seen 'A Day In The Life of Johnny Fisher' on the Matchroom Youtube channel? Opening scene of Fisher eating dry Bran Flakes and explaining how he doesn't like milk because 'it's like water but it's white'. Game-changing content.
Couldn't watch or listen to him for more than a few seconds. Banal, insufferable ****. One of the most punchable faces in the country.
while i dont always trust him. I like his interviews with kugan their entertaining, always have been, they are more honest than other promoters..He has also put on great fights in the last decade you cannot deny his success and his ability to sell shows. he is one of the sports great self marketers since don king for me, its the English version of don King American flag waving when you have seen hearn at shows selling fights or jumping in the ring after fights. Unlike King though at least he pays his fighters properly or at least seems to and tries to get them to work on his shows when they retire, he has made millionaires out of domestic fighters with average ability. He is a hard-nosed accountant really like his old man and that's led to the success of Matchroom for three decades with the darts snooker and now boxing. He is I think a natural introvert who becomes an extrovert when the cameras are around, it's a persona really a character. He is much more like frank smith but unlike smith, he can turn the hearn character on and sell shows better. What puts me off really is the shitshows for away fighters on his shows at times, including the endless rematch clauses for all his fighters now even conor benn who has no title, and then the treatment of away fighters. For example, just take wallin this week, not impressed with it seems a real lack of communication was in play. Fighters maybe see this and choose other avenues when they get the invite. Getting Molina as a replacement for Browne for Babic says it all.
Yes I like him despite all his BS but that is part of being a promoter he is a great character seems like a cheerful bloke. I also like seeing him humiliated it is part of the fun he is almost like a friendlier version of Vince McMahon.
Put the wrong quote in haha. It was supposed to be one where he was saying he feels YouTube boxing is done.
