I have not seen any documentaries on DAZN. The problem with this model is that Eddie Hearn is forced to deliver big fights almost every month to keep customers. BT Sport is the Game Changer that Eddie Hearn must hope for because the Matchroom boxing product is not strong enough.

Yep right now that looks like the only possible saving grace for Eddie is if the BT Sport sale goes through but even then there'll still be major challenges - No 24/7 news channel on BT, AJ's future is uncertain in terms of who his promoter will be and which broadcaster it'll be with plus since September it seems Sky haven't given up on boxing in fact the opposite they're being quite aggressive with the number of cards being put out so that's already competition and if DAZN buy BT then Frank will surely be off wuite possibly to Sky as well.
So as I said interesting times ahead

Yes, but seems like it's only going in one direction. Hearn's explanation of the DAZN PPV story was "Anthony Joshua is a pay per view fighter"… he's signed for life with Matchroom, and DAZN are Matchroom's global broadcast partner…

You have watched the Sky cards, I assume? They have a big rebuilding job to do and it really shows. The card on Saturday was one of the worst televised cards I've seen in years. Right now their cards aren't a patch on what we saw in Leeds or Liverpool.

Sky are a monster, obviously, and they have the potential to turn this around, but it isn't going to happen in 2021 or 2022, imho. Their best bet would be for Boxxer to sign as many of the GB Olympians as possible and build the platform around them.

All that makes him a PPV fighter is his, or his team’s financial demands. That could be changed overnight. The demand doesn’t matter since it’s not like there’s a limited resource involved - it’s purely the supplier setting the price.

AJ could choose to fight on the BBC tomorrow if he felt like it, let’s not pretend otherwise. Any other bull from Hearn is exposing total greed.

 

Disappointing as was looking forward to this fight. There's talk about Whyte fighting Fury next. I still don't think he's ready for that. Maybe needs one more big test and then should go in for it.

You could apply that rule to every fighter on the planet ppv or not.

Why shouldn't AJ fight for what he is worth?

His demands do not make him a ppv fighter his market worth and commercial value does that.

Kell Brook vs Khan is an example of two fighters who want to make as much as possible but are struggling to find the money. Simply just making it a ppv fight doesn't mean they get what they want.

Ones value is what makes them box office. The demands have very little to do with IT. Every other fighter on the planet wants to have the same earnings potential AJ or Canelo has and there is nothing wrong with that.

Joe Joyce could demand a purse 5 x more than his purse v Dubois but that doesn't mean he then fights on ppv does it?

Fury vs Usyk or AJ should all the fighters agree to take greatly reduced purses so ticket prices can be cheap as not doing so is greedy?

Canelo v Plant shouldn't be ppv in America as Canelo could fight on terrestrial TV so he should take a lot less as otherwise his being greedy?

Forget boxers. Why aren't footballers all agreeing to cut there wages so ticket prices can be reduced. They must be greedy?

Or just like pretty much every human on the planet athletes will earn as much as they possibly can do from the job they are doing.

 

I put in for my refund yesterday and got it today including booking fee, so at least Matchroom/ticket providers have handled that side of it well.

Otto Wallin was obviously considered more than just a "tune up" for Dillian Whyte. It was a risky fight.
If Whyte does fight Fury next, around April 2022, he's coming off over a year of inactivity going in against the best HW in the world.

 

Whyte has been in a few wars and is going on 34. I get the feeling he might be like Chisora and stick around for several years, but personally I don't think he has that long left at top level. I don't think he'd retire after a Fury fight (provided Fury wins) but I think that might be his last fight at true world level.
