Should boxing contracts include injury back up fighters?

In this sport we get an injured party every third event it seems. Should they have a backup ready when signing the contract? It seems logical, if they are planning an event with ticketed attendance, why not have an injury back up plan right out of the gate. It could be another fighter who recently had an easy fight or someone who always stays in shape or a veteran fighter who is still active and has enough left in the tank.

But no ... they are never prepared for something like this, and always either cancel the card all together or postpone by half a year. Boxing sucks.

They should for big fights, the only time I can recall where it happened is when Pulev was injured and pulled out vs Joshua and Hearn for some reason had Takam on stand by as a replacement.

Sounds good in theory but that concept would get exploited as well.

Have a fighter sign to fight fighter A with B as a backup, while the promotors want to push B all along. Pay fighter A to fake an injury then have fighter B take the fight.

I do but the state of ATP without Rafa, Djoker and Fed is like WTA, these next genners are mental midgets.

Only Medvedev has something about him it seems, Thiem might do something too, Zverev seems just a bit overhyped to me.

Doohoopoo was a stand in replacement when a certain fighter pulled out of a fight against Povektin.

Promoters routinely have boxers ready to step in. Maybe Matchroom doesn't.

Last year a few well designed cards were all in the same weight class and seemed to have a line of succession in case of covid scratches.

Not only does that solve the cancellation issue, it also prevents the size shock when you go from HW to bantamweight and it gets more of a division on the same schedule.

I'm sure it's a headache to set up though.

I've never had tickets to a cancelled boxing event. From what I've read online it seems that sometimes people don't get their money back. This can't be the case can it? If that is true then why bother? Plus, putting a boxer on retainer so to speak can't be free. Why do that when gyms are full of desperate fighters? I've always thought one of boxing better tricks was the last minute replacement with the "replacement" knowing all along he was going to fight fighter A. What you are proposing puts an end to that. Feels like pie in the sky thinking in the unregulated world of boxing.
