I should say that unfortunately. After his brutal beating on Plant, he gonna be top 20 atg p4p. After countless achievements at 154, 160, 168 and 175, he deserves that rank. His resume and longevity are great, his h2h ability is even greater. Do you agree?
No I do not. Without the blatant "help" from the NSAC, Vegas Boxing & their officials, he would never have held the WBC middleweight title. He NEVER won it legitimately. Nowhere near top 20 nowhere near top 100
The P4P top 25 is a pretty tough list to break into. I imagine him in the 75-125 range. I don't have an authoritative list but if you look at Boxrec's bizarre monstrosity you'll see easily 50 deserving fighters ahead of him in the top 100 and then you have to remember their algorithm neglects the smaller weight classes for some reason. A lot of great little guys through the ages and people who don't look as good to the Boxrec algorithm because they took a bunch of losses at the end of their career long after they should have retired. I, at least, don't put much weight on Ali losing to Trevor Berbick.
Disinfo. Canelo isn't a drug cheat. Eating contaminated meat in Mexico doesn't qualify as doping. The fact that you argue drug cheating just shows how desperate you are to deny him of his rightful place in the pantheon of all-time boxing greats.
Most probably. Resume, longevity and H2H ability are three criterias for being great. His resume is 9/10, longevity is 10/10 and H2H ability is 9.5/10 imo. Generally he is a 9.5/10 fighter and he can join top 20 atg.
Canelo is good, but he is not THAT good. Without help from judges and steroids he would hardly even make current p4p top 10.
He’s nowhere near. We’re talking here about the 20 greatest fighters of all time, throughout each weight class, throughout the entire history of the sport. It’s a joke. Longevity? He’s 31 years old. A 9/10 resume? He barely beat Trout and Lara. GG was robbed in the first fight. Kovalev was shot. What are his best wins? Sure, he’s a great fighter. But there’s guys like Mike McCallum who don’t get anywhere near the Top 50.
Probably, but depends on how high of an achievement you think jumping weights and holding belts is these days. Some think that b/c of today's boxing politics, these belts are only great on paper. Would past greats have easily matched, or surpassed, what Canelo is doing if there were as many belts back then as there are now? I still think Canelo is pretty damn great overall simply due to his longevity and number of divisions he's tested himself in. Some people say he's lost big fights but I don't buy it. Trout was a one hit wonder with Cotto and is nowhere to be seen today. Lara was an ESPN fighter who got exposed by Carlos Molina, again nowhere near the top today. Finally, I did root for GGG, but really bummed at his lack of activity now.
Post WWII, the argument becomes easier to make but still at a glance i find that much too living in the moment.
